Our first contestant from the 19th season in Samoa as well as the second person to appear on the show who was medically evacuated, Russell was in an extremely dominant position in the game and looked likely to go far until one of the most scary incidents we have ever seen on the show happened that saw him removed from the game.
After being voted as the tribes ‘leader’ early on the game, Russell found himself in a strong position on his Galu tribe. Despite making some decisions that angered some of this tribe mates, Russell looked set to at least make the merge. On Day 15 however Russell collapsed at a challenge and required immediate medical assistance. Despite thinking he wasn’t as sick as he thought, he had to be removed from the game and was sent home due to dehydration. It was one of the most dramatic scenes ever seen on Survivor.
In our interview with Russell, he speaks about the incident and the reception and reaction from back home and around the world, as well as why he would return for free if they asked him as well as his thoughts on other aspects of the game of Survivor including his opinion on South Pacific’s John Cochran!
