There are few people in the entertainment world who has as much knowledge on the game of Survivor than Dalton Ross. The current assistant-managing director at EW.com and Entertainment Weekly, Dalton has been writing about the show since it’s first ever episode and has even been able to travel on location, live the life on the show and get to try the challenges first hand. Many people know Dalton for his love of contestants with knee high socks or his strong opinions on certain casts, but you’ll soon find out that there is a lot more to Dalton than you may know.
Dalton isn’t all about Survivor. He also writes about a large number of other shows and is one of Entertainment Weekly’s most respected writers. Getting to know Jeff Probst over the years, Dalton also has maintained friendships with numerous of the contestants in the shows history and continues to juggle his work between travelling and his wife and kids.
In our chat with Dalton, he talks about how much fun his job is, going on location as much as his ‘wife will let him’, wanting to remain cut off from spoilers and how difficult that usually proves to be, what his favourite locations have been over the years, his thoughts on the Philippines and his excitement over the next season, which twist he picked out before the season had even aired, his reputation of picking winners and how it usually turns out pretty bad as well as how far he thinks he would go if he was to go on the show, his love affair with Sally Schumann from Panama and just why Parvati will be happy at the conclusion of the interview.
