Sundra Oakley Interview

When you think of Sundra Oakley from the 13th season of the Cook Islands, you usually think of a woman who couldn’t start a fire. Well there is a whole lot more to her than meets the eye, and given her lack of edit, it’s not surprising to hear just how much unseen moments there were with her. Given just how much she survived along the way to nearly make it to the final tribal council speaks for itself, and outside the game her amazing acting career has lead her to be on shows working with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Eric McCormack. Just don’t ask her about the time she had to sit next to Kiefer Sutherland…

SURVIVOR:COOK ISLANDS

Starting off on the Hiki tribe and going to the very first tribal council, Sundra soon found herself alone after the tribal switch. She fought her way though to the bitter end, being part of the ‘Aitu Four’ who made it all the way to the end after being abandoned by Candice and Jonathan in the mutiny twist. Her inability to start a fire however cost her a spot in the final tribal council, and she was the last person to join the jury.

In our chat with Sundra, she talks about it being flattering people still want to talk to her about Survivor, why she never wanted to go on the show in the first place and being talked into it, the controversy surrounding the race twist and why it didn’t bother her, beating some big names along the way to the final four, holding onto friendships along the way, the experience with her mum during the family reward challenge, the mutiny situation being ‘karma’, people giving her matches after her season finished as well as her respect for Yul, her amazing acting career and whether or not she has finally learnt how to make fire.
