Survivor Oz Top 10–Top 10 Island Styles

Top10IslandStyles

It’s Wednesday! What does that mean? Another SURVIVOR OZ TOP TEN of course! This week, Ozlet Shayna Davis has listed the ten Survivor castaways she believes have taken Survivor fashion by storm. Which players do you think have looked cute or attractive in their island attire and who do you think should be on the list? Read on to find out just which castaway’s Shayna believes have looked "hot” on the island!

As far as wardrobe is concerned, the clothing the contestants wear and the amount they are allowed to take has changed over time. In seasons one to six, we would see contestants wearing rain coats, sunglasses and have an extra change of clothes. Then in season seven, the contestants were told to jump off the boat with nothing but the clothes on their back. Since then, the luxury of bringing extra clothes is not the case. Nowadays the contestants bring their own sense of style to island; unfortunately for them, they are stuck in that outfit and a buff for the remainder of their game. Over the years we have seen some cute little get ups, functional outfits and the dreaded droopy underwear. Here are my top ten best Survivor styles!

10. Marisa Calihan – Samoa

Marisa Calihan only lasted three days in Samoa but she sure made an impression. Russell Hantz found her so threatening he needed to get rid of her at the first Tribal Council. She made an impression on a ‘hippie style lover’ like me when she arrived on the island looking like she came from Haight-Ashbury street in San Francisco circa 1969. She came sporting a vintage orange blouse, hemp necklace and a flower band in her hair.

9. Courtney Yates – China & Heroes vs. Villains

In ‘Survivor: China’ we were introduced to Courtney Yates. She instantly became a favorite of mine. I loved the spunky girl from New York City. She looked so adorable out there in a flower bikini and pigtails. In Heroes vs. Villains she had the same hair style and she brought with her a good luck charm. China winner Todd Herzog gave her his gray good luck cap that she wore all of the time and she looked good in it!

8. Whitney Duncan – South Pacific

Survivor has seen many male contestants show up wearing flannel shirts, but Whitney Duncan was the first woman to sport one and it suited her very well. The country singer looked stunning wearing a casual red, white and blue flannel shirt and blue jeans. She truly looked like a cute, southern belle!

7. Jerri Manthey – Australian Outback, All-Stars & Heroes vs. Villains

The producers of the show want the clothes the castaways wear to reflect their personality and background a little bit. In every season Jerri Manthey has competed in she has worn a pair of camouflage pants, boots and her signature cowboy hat. This look pay tribute to her father who is a U.S. Army veteran. Jerri not only looks stylish in her army get up, it also was very functional. Fellow Heroes vs. Villains contestants nicknamed her “blanket” because of all of the extra clothing she had to keep warm.

6. John Cochran – South Pacific & Caramoan

When we think of John Cochran we automatically get the image of him in his red sweater vest and khaki pants. Cochran’s outfit was a very big part of this break out character, just like his self-deprecating, dry sense of humor.

5. Erik Reichenbach – Micronesia & Caramoan

When I saw Erik Reichenbach in episode one of Micronesia wearing those vintage green and yellow running shorts with the matching shoes and hemp necklace, the vintage clothing lover in me was very happy. I was also happy to see that he grew his hair back for season twenty-six. Erik Reichenbach looked like a carbon copy of Leif Garret in his teen heart throb days. The young, naïve ice-cream scooper from Hell, Michigan was the first to bring seventies vintage clothing to Survivor. Just like his clothing, Erik is an original.

4. Danni Boatwright – Guatemala

No female Survivor contestant has showed more pride in her states pro football league team than Danni Boatwright. She came to Guatemala decked out in a Kansas City Chiefs hat, shirt and sporty shorts. You could say that, that hat helped her win the Final Immunity Challenge when it was stuck in between her back and the wooden pole.

3. Kelly Sharbaugh – Samoa

There have been plenty of beautiful blondes on Survivor, but there was only one stunner who showed up with long blonde dreadlocks. Her name is Kelly Sharbaugh from ‘Survivor: Samoa’. The free spirited contestant jumped off the boat in her gorgeous tall boots, cutoff purple jeans and black tank top. However, her best accessory is those gorgeous dreads!

2. Sally Schumann – Panama

Sally Schumann is not only a favourite of mine but also she captured the heart of famed Survivor writer Dalton Ross, who refers to her as “knee socks Sally”. Sally was also known for wearing pig tails with a baseball cap and showed up to challenges wearing her famous knee socks with her cute polka dot bikini.

1. Dawn Meehan – South Pacific & Caramoan

I think the most stylish contestant to ever grace the island goes to South Pacific and Caramoan contestant Dawn Meehan! I just love the ensemble Dawn has going on this season. She looks amazing in her black and white plaid bathing suit top and boy shorts; and those striped knee socks go great with it! Just like her personality, Dawn’s style is awesome!

  1. I like the fact that Jerri Manthey does not have a write-up about her style. LOL!

  2. No mention of Rupert’s tie-dyed shirts? The travesty!

Oh my gosh! You’re right! I was at the Oregon coast over the weekend; it was absolutely gorgeous, but I just had to take a couple photos of some tie-dye shirts hanging in a farmer’s market booth near the water. (If they’d turned out better, I’d post one.) Good grief! I was thinking Survivor even as I walked to the beach! I am crazy about the dang show. LOL.
