When Dawn Meehan returned for a second time after her first season in South Pacific, she could never have imagined that she would’ve walked away as the most hated person from Caramoan. A massive backlash against her occurred after her role in Brenda being voted, and so many people found themselves being put off their bread due to her involvement. But was the hate warranted? Dawn played a game that involves betrayal and cutting ties with those close to you, and the entire Survivor fan base turning against her so suddenly seemed extremely harsh and unfair. Dawn though is holding her head up high after all the lows her second shot brought her, and she can see many more highs to come out of making the final tribal council. Honest, upfront and as nice as ever, Dawn returns to Survivor Oz for the first time since 2012 and gives one of the most insightful and entertaining interviews to have ever been heard on the show.
Dawn threw the ‘motherly figure’ player out the window during her second season and went in with the sole purpose of coming away a millionaire. She played a fantastic game along the way and her alliance with Cochran helped get her all the way to the end, where unfortunately she was unable to secure any votes from the jury and finished as equal runner-up.
In our chat with Dawn, she talks about not crying in the interview, why she still talks to Cochran everyday since Caramoan ended, people not expecting to see her on the season and which other players from South Pacific people were anticipating, why Fran had to be the first to go and how hard it was voting for her, what strategy she used along the way to ensure she would go far, why she wasn’t as close to Brenda as it was perhaps made out to look like and which other player she actually was closest to, why she wants to send bread to Brandon, the last three years being taken over by Survivor and wanting to take a break as well as why she felt forced into apologising to Brenda at the reunion, discussing the social media backlash against her after the Brenda vote out and talking up the dog bar idea from Eddie.
