Survivor Cagayan Power Rankings with Billy Garcia & Kelly Shinn – Pre Game

PowerRankingsCagayanBillyKelly

For the 28th season of Cagayan we will be once again bringing you our weekly POWER RANKINGS as Ben & Jarryd rank the contestants each week based on performance and strategy and where they are perceived to be in the game! This season we also welcome two special guest POWER RANKERS with Billy Garcia from Survivor Cook Islands Kelly ‘Purple Kelly’ Shinn joining in the fun and help rank the contestants! We kick things off with our pre-game rankings, which we are sure will cause speculation and debate as we get ever closer to the season premiere on February 26th!

HOW THE RANKINGS ARE CALCULATED

Each week Ben, Jarryd, Billy & Kelly will rank the remaining contestants based their opinion of where they stand in the game, with the four totals being tallied to produce a total score . The lowest total score will be ranked at the top, with the second lowest in second, third lowest in third and so on and so forth. Each week the overall list will be published, separated into three tribes. It will combine into one list once the tribes merge (or two should there be a tribe dissolve).

APARRI RANKINGS

1st – Woo

Woo

OVERALL: 2nd
BILLY RANK: 1st
KELLY RANK: 9th
BEN RANK: 6th
JARRYD RANK: 7th

BILLY: “My pick to win it all!”

KELLY: “Will be strong in challenges and popular around camp.”

BEN: “Woo already seems to be a fan favourite and I can see him being this seasons Malcolm. He has the looks, personality and physical ability and if he lives up to his pre-game hype, then look out! He seems to be very ‘focussed’ as well, which can only be a good thing.”

JARRYD: “Has many attributes to rate him highly however I feel he will be a real let down. Will still make the Merge but won’t have much of an impact on the game – similar to Caleb from last season. His strong challenge performances will see him valued early but will be the death of him in the end.”

2nd – Lindsey

Lindsey

OVERALL: 4th
BILLY RANK: 6th
KELLY RANK: 8th
BEN RANK: 6th
JARRYD RANK: 4th

BILLY: “Strong, outgoing, yet non threatening. Reminds me of Flicka but more game minded.”

KELLY: “Looks strong and fun! She should be very good to watch!”

BEN: “Another early favourite of mine, it’s great to see another ‘alternative’ girl on the show! Lindsey has the potential to be a real fan favourite, and I think there is something in her that can take her far. No doubt she’ll be judged early based on her appearance, but I think she can work around that and form some strong bonds to take her easily to the merge. She again teeters on the point of going all the way to the FTC or just missing out on the top 5, so let’s say she’ll miss the top 5 just so that she can go all the way based on my jinxing contestants.”

JARRYD: “Looks like she’s just stepped out of a rainforest in the Philippines and will have no problems adapting to the survival aspect of the game. Easily one of the strongest women this season and will have a personality which will be infectious. Will have a never say die attitude and scrap her way through the game.”

3rd – Trish

Trish

OVERALL: 5th
BILLY RANK: 2nd
KELLY RANK: 14th
BEN RANK: 7th
JARRYD RANK: 9th

BILLY: “My Pick to sit at the end with Woo.”

KELLY: “A stronger older woman who might struggle on a strong tribe.”

BEN: “Trish certainly looks amazing for a 47 year old! Another super fan, Trish I can see being well liked by her tribe mates and I think she’ll easily make the merge. I can see her teetering potentially as somebody who can go all the way to the FTC but struggle to get a vote, or just miss out and make the jury. I’m going to go with the latter, but I look forward to seeing myself wrong.”

JARRYD: “Will be similar to Denise Stapley; a hard worker, someone who can hold her own in challenges, well liked and have the smarts to known what’s going on. The difference between the two will be that Denise will be a winner. Trish will become expendable to her alliance as the middle of the game roles around and will go down without a fight. Will be the player selected on Day One as the weakest on the tribe, but this won’t affect her in the first few Tribal Council’s.”

4th – Tony

Tony

OVERALL: 10th
BILLY RANK: 9th
KELLY RANK: 9th
BEN RANK: 8th
JARRYD RANK: 14th

BILLY: “Physical player on a physical tribe that will win early.”

KELLY: “I think people will be intimidated of Tony and that will work against him.”

BEN: “Is it just me or does Tony sound like Derek Zoolander? And is it just me or does Tony look like Ace Gordon on some epic steroids? Tony is one interesting beast, and I think he will provide some very interesting TV. He seems on the ball, and I think he will be somebody people get along with well and won’t target early. Come the merge though, he’ll no doubt be perceived as a physical threat, so that will be an issue as the season gets along.”

JARRYD: “Massive guy, massive physical threat. Seems likely that he’ll be able to be personable enough but his size will stand out and nobody will want him around post-merge. A big character early in the game, (like Shamar and Brad in seasons past), but his time will be cut short.”

5th – Sarah

Sarah

OVERALL: 15th
BILLY RANK: 12th
KELLY RANK: 7th
BEN RANK: 18th
JARRYD RANK: 12th

BILLY: “Very outspoken and assertive police officer.”

KELLY: “Strong police officer shouldn’t have a problem going deep into the game.”

BEN: “One of two police officers on the show (and same tribe it has to be said), I have a feeling there will be a lot made of these two and their profession. Will that mean they work together? Possibly, but I think Sarah will struggle to make an impact. She is a big fan of the show though so she won’t go in completely unaware, and is a strong competitor in sport. But sorry to say Sarah, I don’t see you going far. Potential first boot right here.”

JARRYD: “I have a feeling that Sarah is all talk, no action. I think she’ll be a big strategic player but will come out playing far to early, which will ultimately cost her. She’ll be impressive in challenges but it won’t be enough for her to avoid an early exit.”

6th – Cliff

Cliff

OVERALL: 16th
BILLY RANK: 15th
KELLY RANK: 13th
BEN RANK: 14th
JARRYD RANK: 8th

BILLY: “Tall Pro basketball players tend to have bad knees. I expect that to be a big factor in his game.”

KELLY: “Be interesting to see how a pro basketball player will go in the game!”

BEN: “We’ve had NFL and MLB players so now it’s time to have our first NBA player! Cliff I’m sure will get a bulk of airtime early on but can he match his airtime with playing ability? We’ve never seen a professional athlete (with the exception of Ethan) go right to the end in Survivor, and I don’t think we will see it this time around either. I just feel as though Cliff will probably clash with a few people and if people find out he used to be in the NBA, that will be used against him. Will need to work very hard to make it to the merge. I don’t see it happening.”

JARRYD: “Despite being very well known, I think Cliff will hold his own. He was a very likeable person in the NBA and that will come across again in Survivor as he once again is seen as “Uncle Cliff” to other castaways. Will be an asset in challenges and will have enough sense to know what’s going on. If he survives early and proves his worth, he’ll make the Merge; if he doesn’t manage that, he’ll an early boot and a waste this season. Obvious choice for me to be Aparri’s leader.”

LUZON RANKINGS

1st – J’Tia

J'Tia

OVERALL: 3rd
BILLY RANK: 4th
KELLY RANK: 4th
BEN RANK: 4th
JARRYD RANK: 11th

BILLY: “Her job as a Nuke Scientist means she is smart and calm.”

KELLY: “Beautiful and strong. She will go very far.”

BEN: “One of my faves straight away, J’tia is unique in that she was a model who then became a nuclear engineer. That to me straight away shows that she has the ability to adapt to situations and change things up when needed. I honestly feel as though she can go deep, and I also think she can become a fan favourite if the edit is kind to her. I’m jumping on the J’tia bandwagon straight away though and calling her out as one of my ponies! You know that means she won’t win though. Damn.”

JARRYD: “J’Tia is arguably one of the smartest person on the island but I don’t think she’ll be able to relate her life to the game of Survivor in terms of strategy and smarts. She fit into an alliance early but will be at the lower end of the totem pole and will eventually be a “safe vote” out for the majority. Not expecting much from her this season.”

2nd – David

David

OVERALL: 6th
BILLY RANK: 16th
KELLY RANK: 11th
BEN RANK: 3rd
JARRYD RANK: 2nd

BILLY: “Having a lucrative office job makes him a risk to quit.”

KELLY: “A real interesting contestant. Could go far or home early, but should make it around the middle.”

BEN: “David to me seems to be the Lisa Whelchel to Cliff Robinson/Jeff Kent from Philippines. I can see him flying back under the radar and being the ‘fish out of water’ contestant who everybody is ‘forced’ to root for. This has the potential to take him far and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him make it all the way to the end and be the token ‘0 vote getter’. Bold prediction yes, but just like Survivor you have to make big moves!”

JARRYD: “Has the smarts and knows how to use them, (as displayed via his occupation). First impressions are huge and he has a likeable aura about him. Even though he is likely to be recognised because of his job, I think he’ll be able to use it in his favour in order to go deep into the game.”

3rd – Garrett

Garrett

OVERALL: 8th
BILLY RANK: 7th
KELLY RANK: 5th
BEN RANK: 12th
JARRYD RANK: 13th

BILLY: “Pro Poker Player ought to be good a bluffing.”

KELLY: “Looks like he will be a lot of fun to watch!”

BEN: “It’s taken 13 seasons to get another poker player on, but finally we have Jean-Robert 2.0! I was a big Jean-Robert fan, and I agree with what Garrett (and Jean-Robert in the past) in saying that poker is very similar to Survivor. He seems cocky, and he seems as though he will rub people the wrong way with it. He also though seems as though he can get a core group of people with him long enough to make it far. Tossing up between just before the merge or early jury, so let’s go with just before the merge to shake things up.”

JARRYD: “Arrogance will be his downfall. Is doesn’t matter how many hours he trained or whether his poker skills do help him, his personality will grate on others and he’ll be given the flick after several challenges to gain peace around camp. Added to the tribe’s pain will be the fact he is selected as their leader on Day One.”

4th – Tasha

Tasha

OVERALL: 9th
BILLY RANK: 10th
KELLY RANK: 1st
BEN RANK: 13th
JARRYD RANK: 15th

BILLY: “An account should be able to play the numbers game well.”

KELLY: “Tasha has the brains to make it to the top, the strength to compete and is cute enough to fit in with the ‘beauty’ thing going on here!”

BEN: “One of many long term fans on the show, Tasha is interesting that she wants to be a leader straight away. That’s not something you generally hear from somebody going into the game but it’s good to hear something a little bit different. She also says she has the ability to backstab and lie, so if that is the case and she does it with that amazing smile, then she could be a real dark horse to go far. Some big Cirie vibes though it has to be said are coming from her, so let’s hope she turns into a great personality like Mrs Fields did!”

JARRYD: “Been a lifelong fan but also very religious which will hold her back from making the cut throat moves that need to be made. She’ll be the older woman this season that will struggle morally but won’t be around long enough to grate on the viewer.”

5th – Spencer

Spencer

OVERALL: 13thh
BILLY RANK: 3rd
KELLY RANK: 15th
BEN RANK: 10th
JARRYD RANK: 16th

BILLY: “I expect will be the big villain of the season.”

KELLY: “Spencer appears to be a weaker player which won’t help him in team challenges.”

BEN: “You know I’m going to love this guy right? Well I do and I’m dubbing him another Ben Waterworth pony. Spencer is the early favourite to hog all the screen time, and I think alongside Cliff you are going to be seeing a lot of early confessionals from him. He seems to know the game too, and sure he wants to be evil but he also seems super smart with a chess background (Marty would be jealous) and his charming personality. This guy will go far, and he will come back and play again in the future. Yes, I am saying that already before the season has started, but you heard it here first.”

JARRYD: “Similar to Garrett, his arrogance will kill him. Young and inexperienced, chess is NOTHING like Survivor and he’ll find that out very early on. Despite being popular pre-season, will let a lot of people down and he’ll be a complete flop.”

6th – Kass

Kass

OVERALL: 14th
BILLY RANK: 8th
KELLY RANK: 16th
BEN RANK: 5th
JARRYD RANK: 17th

BILLY: “Attorneys have done well on Survivor historically.”

KELLY: “She may overthink things (use her brains) way too quickly for her own good.”

BEN: “Kass is an interesting mixture of personalities and definitely seems to fit the brains stereotype. I can see her making it far by flying under the radar and going unnoticed for a while. She potentially could be seen as a week link though early on should the brains lose a few challenges, But I have some good vibes that she will make it deep into this game.”

JARRYD: “Similar to Tasha, will struggle morally with the game and won’t be able to keep up the lie about her real job. Seems very confident in her abilities but once the game starts and she gets a reality check, she’ll struggle. Will be the person selected as the “weak player” on Day One of the Brains tribe.”

SOLANA RANKINGS

1st – Jeremiah

Jeremiah

OVERALL: 1st
BILLY RANK: 13th
KELLY RANK: 2nd
BEN RANK: 3rd
JARRYD RANK: 6th

BILLY: “Nice guy in a mean game on a tribe that won’t win many challenges.”

KELLY: “Has the potential to go far. Will be extremely liked by all.”

BEN: “That accent! Wow! I’m not gay, but dayum! Jeremiah will be extremely popular amongst his tribe mates, and if he sticks to the southern country gentleman routine then there is no way he won’t make the top 5. I honestly think he has the chance to make it to the final 3 based purely on nothing more than being an attractive country guy and if you have that going for you, then no need to change anything. Colby and JT 3.0 right here”

JARRYD: “Not the brightest tool in the shed and will be influenced heavily by the younger women, (think Chase – Nicaragua). Will be a solid vote in an alliance and win several challenges but will never be in with a serious chance to win because he won’t be playing “his game”.”

2nd – LJ

LJ

OVERALL: 7th
BILLY RANK: 5th
KELLY RANK: 12th
BEN RANK: 16th
JARRYD RANK: 1st

BILLY: “The toughest, hardest worker on the beauty tribe.”

KELLY: “Might struggle amongst the social people.”

BEN: “LJ doesn’t strike me as somebody who will make an impact on this game. He gives me Carter vibes, so potentially he’ll be dragged along right through the merge. But I just feel as though he will be an early boot. He loves puzzles though, so who knows as with the amount of puzzle based challenges he could dominate. He also loves horses. And I don’t think we have seen a horse on Survivor since the Marquesas.”

JARRYD: “Despite being a member of the Beauty tribe, I think he’s going to a standout all-round player. Will be strong in challenges and have a solid strategy, with his ability to charm people being his number one asset. My pick to win and will also be selected as the early leader for Solana.”

3rd – Jefra

Jefra

OVERALL: 11th
BILLY RANK: 18th
KELLY RANK: 18th
BEN RANK: 2nd
JARRYD RANK: 3rd

BILLY: “Miss anythings (pageant winners) seldom if ever do well on Survivor.”

KELLY: “Jefra may be at the bottom – although I think she is very deserving to be given a chance!”

BEN: “Jefra has Jeremiah’s accent, I’m sold! Beautiful, bright and seemingly adaptable to the situation, I see Jefra as a real surprise packet ready to pounce. Straight away saying she won’t flirt as a tool to win and saying she is willing to do what it takes, I really see her as being judged early and people making assumptions that could either make her an early boot or let her slide under the radar all the way to the end. Could be Natalie White 2.0, and I’m making a bold prediction that she can take that all the way to the end.”

JARRYD: “I think she’ll be the surprise packet this season and will make it to the Final Tribal Council. Has a good backstory and is willing to fight. Her social game will be key and if she can work herself into an alliance I believe she has the ability to take control of the game when the opportunity arises.”

4th – Alexis

Aleixs

OVERALL: 12th
BILLY RANK: 17th
KELLY RANK: 3rd
BEN RANK: 17th
JARRYD RANK: 5th

BILLY: “Tied for youngest player on a tribe that I expect to loose a lot early.”

KELLY: “Alexis will form strong bonds – strong enough to bring her to the end potentially.”

BEN: “Alexis to me looks like somebody got Ami Cusack and Ciera Eastin and put them in a blender. She seems like a bright, happy person who will give it her all, but honestly nothing really stands out too much from her that would take her far. She seems keen to work with the girls and also keen to make big moves but only if she is at the bottom of the alliance. Can’t see her going far at all.”

JARRYD: “Another one who will surprise fans this season. Will be a strong manipulator and use her looks to her advantage. Whilst she won’t be fantastic in challenges, she hold her own during the pre-merge stage of the game in order to survive and then won’t be threat to take out Individual Immunity, keeping the target off her.”

5th – Brice

Brice

OVERALL: 17th
BILLY RANK: 11th
KELLY RANK: 10th
BEN RANK: 11th
JARRYD RANK: 18th

BILLY: “As a social worker he can handle himself socially. He’s just not on a good tribe. Will be outnumbered later in the game.”

KELLY: “I’m afraid Brice may get on peoples nerves after a while.”

BEN: “One of my favourites already, Brice is destined to become one of the most unique personalities of the season. I get some big Coby Archa vibes for him and I think he will get along very well with people on the beach, particularly the women. Will he rub people the wrong way though? He says his facial expressions could give him away which could be a problem. And he also says he has to control himself at some points. Could be dangerous for him if he is to make it deep.”

JARRYD: “For me, I can’t see anyone on his tribe willing to work with him. He won’t click with the guys and I can’t see the girls wanting to “hang out” with him when Jeremiah and LJ are around. Will have a big edit in episode one but we won’t see him again until the Reunion Show unless Solana win challenges. Will be selected as the weakest member for Solana on Day One and he won’t lose this stigma.”

6th – Morgan

Morgan

OVERALL: 18th
BILLY RANK: 14th
KELLY RANK: 17th
BEN RANK: 15th
JARRYD RANK: 10th

BILLY: “Very young and on a tribe I expect to loose a lot early.”

KELLY: “Morgan may be at the bottom just because people will not want to give her a chance.”

BEN: “Ladies and gentleman we have our stunner for the season! Wow, Morgan I am a fan. Is it the eyes? The hair? The teeth? The fact she is a cheerleader? Add them all up and I’m sold! But besides me going gaga for Morgan, I actually don’t see her doing too well. I hate being the stereotype with this but I just can’t picture her making it deep at all and despite claiming she ‘doesn’t hold back’ in what she says, I honestly feel as though she has the potential to either be the first boot or the invisible edit getter who goes middle-early before the merge. For the love of god make me wrong Morgan. I must see you on my screen each week! And you’re also my pony for the season so win me some money please!”

JARRYD: “Morgan’s goal is to change the stereotype of the “cute, younger girl” and I think she will be able to break out of the mould for parts of the game, however, she will ultimately still fit the role for majority of the season. Socially she’ll excel and make lots of good relationships that will see her just make the early stages of the Jury but she won’t have an impact on the season strategically and will be influenced in this regard by her fellow tribe mates Alexis, Jefra and LJ.”

9 Comments on Survivor Cagayan Power Rankings with Billy Garcia & Kelly Shinn – Pre Game

  1. Regarding Jefra, there have been beauty queens who have done pretty well on Survivor (Danni and Amanda come to mind), so if she’s good at challenges, likable, and has a good sense of strategy, I can see her going far

  2. I think Sarah deserves more respect in the ranking. She seems to really have her finger on the pulse of the game already.

Also, Trish is my pregame pick to win since I think she would be someone who everybody will feel comfortable playing with.

And there’s always a 3rd wheel with no votes at all. BORING.

Funniest line of the whole article, from Ben: “Alexis to me looks like somebody got Ami Cusack and Ciera Eastin and put them in a blender.” HA HA HA! Rooting for Uncle Cliffy; he’ll always be a favorite since he played so long for my beloved Portland Trail Blazers. After Wednesday, I predict we’ll all change our opinions…
