Survivor Cagayan Power Rankings with Billy Garcia & Kelly Shinn – Week 7

For the 28th season of Cagayan we will be once again bringing you our weekly POWER RANKINGS as Ben & Jarryd rank the contestants each week based on performance and strategy and where they are perceived to be in the game! This season we also welcome two special guest POWER RANKERS with Billy Garcia from Survivor Cook Islands Kelly ‘Purple Kelly’ Shinn joining in the fun and help rank the contestants! We continue our rankings for another week with our episode 8 rankings, which we are sure will cause speculation and debate as we get closer to next weeks episode!

Each week Ben, Jarryd, Billy & Kelly will rank the remaining contestants based their opinion of where they stand in the game, with the four totals being tallied to produce a total score . The lowest total score will be ranked at the top, with the second lowest in second, third lowest in third and so on and so forth. Each week the overall list will be published, separated into three tribes. It will combine into one list once the tribes merge (or two should there be a tribe dissolve).

1st – LJ

OVERALL: 1st (+1)

BILLY: “It was a quiet episode for LJ. But he’s still at or near the top..”

KELLY: “Hoping LJ isn’t next – but having bad feelings that he may be.”

BEN: “Have to say this is probably the hardest week to actually rank people given there is still no clear cut winner at this stage. Giving my number one pick to LJ this week though, as he is still just there and thereabouts without causing too much trouble to be seen as a threat. I still think it’s a toss up between him and Jefra right now, but Jefra didn’t get the best edit this week, so let’s put the horse guy at number one! Oh and a tip, keep the hat on!”

JARRYD: “I’m fully expecting LJ to win the game from here. Edit wise he’s been a dominant presence this season, he’s well liked, smart, good in challenges, he’s got it all going for him. Solid alliance with Jefra will come into play in the next few episodes.”

2nd – Woo

OVERALL: 2nd (+1)

BILLY: “I keep saying that Woo needs to make a move….ok his move was to mug Spencer and rob him of his HII clue. Ha, just like a true ninja. The move didn’t yield any fruit but it was a start. Looking at the previews for the next episode, it looks like even Woo is feeling the pressure to make a move.”

KELLY: “Thinking Woo will have to fight to make it to the final 3 – but I definitely think he will end up here.”

BEN: “Woo impressed the hell out of me this episode and I would seriously give him a huge shot at winning this game if it wasn’t for next weeks preview. I know that’s a bad way of rating someone, but if you’ve got a key member in your alliance even remotely thinking of taking you out, then it can’t be good. The guy is insane (in a good way) and TV gold, and if he wins it will be one of the most popular wins I think in Survivor history! But he has a lot to do I think to survive. His idea to follow Spencer then get everyone else to join in was brilliant, and shows that he is an underrated player as well as character.”

JARRYD: “Finally getting an edit and showed that he does know what is going on and how to play the game. To me, is a much loved player which will make it difficult for people to want to take him to the Final Tribal Council, (which is probably why Tony is gunning for him next week), but if he creates his own Final Three or wins his way there, he’ll be very hard to beat.”

3rd – Tony

OVERALL: 3rd (-2)

BILLY: “The silver tongued devil survives his first real trouble at tribal council. He is still in control and is still playing aggressively. As we get down to the nitty gritty, Tony comes more and more on the radar of the power players. It’s gonna be harder and harder for Tony to rely on his alliance which is primarily made up of the top players left in the game. I think we see this very thing in the preview of next week’s episode. Time for Tony to plan the next blindside.”

KELLY: “Appears if a meltdown may occur here in the next episode – and although I don’t think it will immediately impact him – I think he will not survive much longer.”

BEN: “Tony had another strong episode and is still in control of his alliance. But as each week slips by I can’t see him winning. It’s that point of the game where everything he has done along the way is coming back to bite him, he is being seen as a threat and unless he ‘pulls a Tyson’ and still wins the jury over I just can’t see him walking away a millionaire. That’s not to say I don’t want him to, because trust me I do. But I just have a feeling it’s all about to catch up on him sooner rather than later.”

JARRYD: “Tony is playing a strong game but his got a massive target on his head. He has Trish in his pocket and I believe he’s got the ability to talk someone into doing something they don’t want to do. Will be interesting to see what happens with his paranoia next week.”

4th – Spencer

OVERALL: 4th (+3)

BILLY: “He found the HII! POWER! He could stand to loose Morgan. She was expendable. Spencer is a lion in the weeds. He will strike when the time is right. Nice Immunity Challenge win also. Plus he planted a seed in Kass that could pay dividends later. All in all, it was a good episode for Spencer.”

KELLY: “How could Spencer not win the million after being so real with everyone and fighting his way through that immunity challenge – this is like storybook survivor and I am loving every moment of it. YOU GO SPENCER !!!!”

BEN: “I think Spencer is in a better position than 4, but I also think that he made a massive mistake in not using his idol on Morgan or Tash. Yeah sure I’m still a bit sad that Morgan went, but it’s far more than that. Surely using that idol and saving Morgan to blindside Tony would make things back in his favour. The split would be 4-4 with Kass in the middle, and we know how much she flips so why wouldn’t she flip back? She helped save Spencer once in this game already, why not again? That puts Spencer in a strong position with people he can beat with an idol he can easily find again. It could be the move that costs him a win.”

JARRYD: “Spencer has had a terrible run of luck. Whilst his Idol will be a huge bonus for him, he’s dangerous and everyone knows it. He’ll continue to be targeted over the coming episodes and I can see him ending up being blindsided with his Idol in his pocket or wasted on a hapless ally.”

5th – Kass

OVERALL: 5th (+1)

BILLY: “She’s a free agent. Swing voters get targeted so she’s saying “Free Agent!” I expect her to sell her vote for protection to Spencer once she gets targeted by Tony, LJ and Trish. She’s playing like Penner in the Cook Islands. I mean that as a complement.”

KELLY: “She is too savvy to not be a final 3 at this point.”

BEN: “A week ago the world wanted to kill Kass. Now this week I feel as though she pulled herself out of the hatred and stuck herself firmly in a good spot. Can she win? I don’t see it happening. BUT, stranger things have happened. Was her move really that dumb considering that people seem to know what she is like and expect it from her? Despite the negativity at her at the start of the episode, it came full circle and it seems to have gone away, much to what she was expecting. And as she said, it’s all about betraying and backstabbing to get to the end. She’s done it plenty of times this season, so don’t write her off.”

JARRYD: “No chance at all to win. Thinks she’s playing a fantastic game, but in actual fact she has no real allies, she doesn’t seem liked and is poor in challenges. Is going to make a fantastic goat but if she can’t go all the way will be given her marching orders much like Cochran was in South Pacific.”

6th – Trish

OVERALL: 6th (-1)

BILLY: “She is amongst the people in her alliance that has input in the strategy sessions. I expect for Trish to stay in the thick of things. She’s loyal to Tony and it’s paying off. He listens to Trish and treats her as his closest confidant. That’s legit power for Trish.”

KELLY: “Trish will team with Kass to make it this far – but Kass won’t want to take her to the final 3. No way no how!”

BEN: “Every season it seems as though I have opinions that everyone hates me for, and clearly this season it’s the fans of Trish that like to go off on me each week. Sorry folks, I just don’t see what she is doing in this game to warrant a higher ranking (which I’m sure you’ll all tell me anyway). It’s been explained to me her ‘moves’ along the way which I respect as peoples opinions. I for one don’t see what she has done as something that can help her win this game. Sure some moves have helped her advance, but I’m ranking based on a win, not on going a week further. Even having the comment of ‘if it wasn’t for Trish LJ and Jefra wouldn’t be in a good spot in this game’ which just made me chuckle beyond all belief. I think this week’s edit on Trish summed her up, and again I will reiterate that the best I can see her finishing is FTC with a vote or two. That’s nothing against Trish as a person as she seems like a funny and great lady; I just can’t see the big deal with what people are banging on about. And besides, people claiming she is ‘underrated’ when clearly everyone is ‘rating’ her make that point mute! Prove me wrong by all means Trish!”

JARRYD: “Whilst I acknowledge that Trish has done some okay things strategically this season, she simply won’t win. She’ll either be carried to the Final Tribal Council or become one of the last members of the Jury. Tony has to much control over her.”

7th – Jefra

OVERALL: 7th (-3)

BILLY: “She says she’s a link in the chain of her alliance. Translation: She’s a pawn and she’s ok with it. She maybe in the majority but Jefra is not doing enough to warrant a higher ranking.”

KELLY: “Still – no enemies made – not a smart final 3 individual.”

BEN: “Still think she can win this game and still feel as though she is being severely underrated. Everyone feels as though Trish needs more love, well to me it’s by far Jefra. She is tight with LJ, well liked by people and not in any danger despite the votes going her way last week. People argue she ‘isn’t doing anything’, but you could argue that about a lot of players at this point of the game in past seasons who go on to win. We’re at the half way point, and she is no invisible player. Keep watching.”

JARRYD: “She’s been my dark horse all season. I can’t see Jefra missing out on a Final Four finish at this point. She’s showed her strategic side and is playing a strong social game. Her performance in the last Immunity Challenge was impressed and I feel her fellow castaways have underrated her immensely.”

8th – Tasha

OVERALL: 8th ()

BILLY: “She and her Tag-Team partner Spencer are in still alive even though they are dangerous. Tasha didn’t win the Immunity Challenge but she looked very strong and capable of winning immunity in the future. She may need it eventually.”

KELLY: “Physical threat, yes – social threat, not really – a winner as a final 3, not likely – worth voting her off before others, probably not. Fifth is good for this home girl J”

BEN: “What happened to her? She is miss invisible all of a sudden. This is a shame because she is fun to watch. But I think she is just in that nowhere land at the moment which will see her go next or just go home around 5 or 6. Super strong in the immunity challenge (did she even move?) and just missed out. But still alive. Interesting that of course we have 3 brains, 3 brawn and 3 beauty left now too! Just had to add that in there randomly!”

JARRYD: “Behind Spencer, she’s the biggest threat in the minority because she’d showed she can and will play the game. The sooner she goes the sooner the Solana alliance will breathe easy.”

9th – Jeremiah

OVERALL: 9th (+1)

BILLY: “He’s floating and running out of places to hide. Jeremiah is also running out of time.”

KELLY: “Because I truly believe Tony will ruin his “alliance” – ultimately screwing over LJ and Jefra – I think Jeremiah will be able to pull through just a few tribal councils longer.”

BEN: “If we’re talking ‘underrated’ players, to me it’s Jeremiah this season. He has constantly been in a bad position but his read on the game is something that nobody seems to be taking notice of. He would be in an ideal spot to win this game if he had the numbers, but unfortunately he doesn’t. Why he isn’t trying to swindle back in with LJ and Jefra is beyond me, but there is still time to do that.”

JARRYD: “Purple Jeremiah? The guy has hardly featured this season. He’s like a special guest star in a drama series that has a one-minute scene yet gets credited for it because they are a big name actor/actress. Jeremiah’s time is up and all that’s saving him is his lack of game play and awareness.”

9 Comments on Survivor Cagayan Power Rankings with Billy Garcia & Kelly Shinn – Week 7

  1. With Morgan gone, there really aren’t any people left whom I think have no chance of winning. This is definitely a difficult time to do the rankings… but I don’t know, I just have a feeling each of the brains will go far. But I think that’s influenced more by my emotions than objective analysis. Given Tony’s flip-flopping, LJ’s big edit in the sneak peak, Spencer’s idol, chaos Kass and the Tyler Perry idol, really anything could happen. And it’s making for a great, one of the best seasons this show has seen (maybe *the* best ??? — this is a really good season!!)

  2. Cannot understand Kelly’s reasoning. Love Jarryd’s rankings this week

  3. Yeah, still not getting the “Trish will do whatever Tony says”. Tony thought they shoukd get LJ originally, instead of Cliff, but she swayed him to get Cliff out and they ended up with LJ and Jefra as allies. Tony told her that talking to Kass would be pointless, but she did it and pulled in a vote that kept them alive. Even if she would have flipped either way, Trish worked a potential vote (if Kass were a juror) for the FTC. We also saw her bonding with the girls with her yoga. She’s not even a target at the moment either. She’s playing one of the best games.

I will say there are so many people left who would make good winners and everyone left, I can see winning. He’s playing very well, but I’ll be disappointed if LJ wins seeing as that would be a boring end to a great, unpredictable season.

  4. My ranking-

    • I like it 🙂

Don’t know why people base rankings on a breakdown of the majority alliance next week. It hasn’t happened yet and could easily just be hype to make it more suspenseful

  5. Trish is so underrated. Dont be shocked if she wins this hahahah!

I don’t understand why Ben and Jarryd think Tony controls Trish when it is shown as the other way around. At what point has Tony controlled Trish? Nothing. Trish told Tony to vote out Cliff… he does. Tony told Trish to not talk to Kass, she does it anyway and does it successfully to flip the game.

Trish has pulled off a lot of moves this season. Far more than anyone has done so far. LJ’s strategy pales in comparison to hers. The only problem she has is trying to reiterate her strategy to the jury because I don’t think anyone seem to notice she is playing a very hard game. That is the only downside to her game. Other than that, she is hardworking and seems to be liked by everyone post-jury.

  7. Oof. And the golden boy has fallen

  8. Me when Kelly’s ranks are the best and she totally called LJ going home this week 😀 Wish we could have seen you more on Survivor Nicaragua Girl 😦
