Survivor Cagayan Power Rankings with Billy Garcia & Kelly Shinn – Week 9

For the 28th season of Cagayan we will be once again bringing you our weekly POWER RANKINGS as Ben & Jarryd rank the contestants each week based on performance and strategy and where they are perceived to be in the game! This season we also welcome two special guest POWER RANKERS with Billy Garcia from Survivor Cook Islands Kelly ‘Purple Kelly’ Shinn joining in the fun and help rank the contestants! We continue our rankings for another week with our episode 10 rankings, which we are sure will cause speculation and debate as we get closer to next weeks episode!

Each week Ben, Jarryd, Billy & Kelly will rank the remaining contestants based their opinion of where they stand in the game, with the four totals being tallied to produce a total score . The lowest total score will be ranked at the top, with the second lowest in second, third lowest in third and so on and so forth. Each week the overall list will be published, separated into three tribes. It will combine into one list once the tribes merge (or two should there be a tribe dissolve).

1st – Tony

OVERALL: 1st (+2)

BILLY: “With the exception of a couple of weeks this season I’ve had Tony as my number one ranked player throughout. Most weeks I was alone among the Survivor Oz Power Rankings staff in feeling this way. Well, now that he’s found the super powered HII, has his old alliance forgiving him, his adversaries needing him, and a mere four boots to go for the FTC,  I think there shouldn’t be much debate left as to who’s number one. Woo is his right hand man and Trish considers herself Tony’s right hand woman. The only question in my mind is: will having an Idol that doesn’t have to be played until after the vote(Sorry Tyler Perry, Survivor’s 13th season already had one of those) make Tony take a step back in game play giving others a chance to build a resume? I think not. He’s a naturally aggressive player. I feel a new lie coming from the silver tongued devil soon. That “it’s a fake idol” lie was just an appetizer.”

BEN: “One thing is for sure and that is that Tony isn’t going anywhere soon. The so called ‘Tyler Perry Idol’ means he is safe at least till the final 4 or 5, so expect to see a lot of him right up until the end. At this rate it looks as though he is getting the ‘Russell edit’ and will land in the final tribal council with the possibility of not getting any votes or only a couple that won’t make him the winner. But if Spencer calling him out was anything to go by, then he might surprise many and walk away as the winner.”

JARRYD: “Lock in Final Four and for me, an obvious winner. Played a very good first up game, despite dominating the edit, which has been at times annoying. Seems to be the only one willing to play and play dirty.”

2nd – Woo

OVERALL: 2nd ()

BILLY: “He’s looking good to be there at the FTC but once again, I question if Woo is building enough of a resume to win. He’s made a couple of moves, the big one being the LJ blindside. But I think Tony is going to get the bulk of the credit for that move. Woo is looking like a solid second place. What would Jet Li do?””

BEN: “The man can survive falling out of a palm tree and being the target of the minority, but I don’t think he can survive much longer. Perfect victim should things be shaken up next week, and given it’s the ‘magical 7’ episode, it’s perfect opportunity for something big to come.”

JARRYD: “Coasting along with no real idea what’s happening yet shows enough to have an idea of game play. Well liked but that won’t buy him enough Jury votes.”

3rd – Trish

OVERALL: 3rd (+2)

BILLY: “For someone who was very emotional early in the game, Trish has become the most level headed person in her alliance. She didn’t hold a grudge against Tony. She convinced Kass and Jefra not to hold a grudge against Tony and that kept Jefra from flipping. Though I think drawing rocks wasn’t appealing, none the less Trish got in Jefra’s ear and made sure the alliance stayed intact. A bitter jury could equal a big win for Trish. I worry that Tony won’t take Trish to the end though. She’ll forgive him. She’s shown that.”

BEN: “Another bad episode for Trish in terms of the edit. Giving out quotes like “I know Tony lied to me but I still trust him” and “I don’t want to strategise I would rather find limes and papayas” doesn’t fit the mould of someone who is going to win. Tony also showing cracks in his relationship with her, and if he flips and tries to turn things around again, expect Trish to bare the brunt of him.”

JARRYD: “Trish is viewed as Tony’s pony and I can’t see that changing. If Trish gave a bang on Jury speech, she’ll get a lot of respect and a lot of Jury votes but I can’t see it happening. She’s playing a subtle game and will most likely make it to the end but to leave her mark on the game, she HAS to take out Tony.”

4th – Spencer

OVERALL: 4th (-3)

BILLY: “No player has zig-zagged my rankings more than Spencer. He’s been at the top, then the bottom, then top again, now the bottom again. Sheesh, I’m getting sea sick. Anywho, he guessed wrong on his HII play. He lost a key member of his very depleted alliance. And he is firmly on everyone’s radar. Yet, Spencer is not out of it. He’s like a zombie from The Walking Dead. You have to shoot him in the head to put him down. If anyone can find a way out of this situation, it’s Spencer. When things look their bleakest, he shines his brightest.”

BEN: “Similar to Tasha in that he is in trouble, Spencer is a savvy individual who always manages to get himself out of tricky situations. No doubt regrets using the idol on himself rather than Woo, he still has plenty of game left in him to take him far. He also only needs to potentially get Kass to flip back and join him and Tasha as a ‘Brains alliance’ and maybe hope Jefra is willing to come back to them, and things can switch up. With Tony playing the way he is, it wouldn’t surprise me if this happens.”

JARRYD: “May have wasted an Idol but this guy is smart enough to work some magic and turn his game around for about the fifteenth time. Loveable underdog who has the Jury in his pocket. So dangerous if he gets to the end which is why he’ll be taken out before the Final Three”

5th – Kass

OVERALL: 5th (+1)

BILLY: “Kass has shown herself to be loyal this last episode after flipping alliances earlier in the game. That means she’s in a great position to flip again. If she’s gonna make a move the time is growing short. There are a lot of ways to go. Kass is probably going to have to decide soon if she stands a better chance sitting with Tony and Woo or Tasha and Spencer or Trish and Jefra. Funny thing is, no mater which she chooses, I still see Kass as number three in the jury’s eyes. But Kass has options. Not everyone left in the game does.”

BEN: “Each week that goes by I seemingly see a real slim chance of Kass winning as something that might happen. Similar to what I wrote about Jefra, all it takes is a bitter jury and a hated player to sneak through. She is getting a decent enough edit, and her move from a few weeks ago is long forgotten it seems. Don’t write her off completely.”

JARRYD: “I really don’t want to see Kass win but the past few episodes have dropped a few foreshadowing hints that may see it happen. Her indecisiveness and strange game play continues, yet it seems to be working. For me, she’s a goat or a last place Jury but I think we’re yet to see another layer that is Kass.”

6th – Tasha

OVERALL: 6th (-2)

BILLY: “It’s official. Tasha is a challenge monster! She’s a female Terry Deitz/Ozzy Lusth. I’d love to see Tasha pull a Kelly Wiglesworth and win her way to the end. Tasha is also a good strategist which is rare for someone with so much challenge ability. If she can put the two together here in the home stretch she might pull out the miracle win. Most importantly, Tasha needs to keep winning challenges. That would force certain players to approach her with a deal. Tasha can swing deals like Monty Hall!”

BEN: “Another week where everything seemed to fit the mould of a winners edit. Dominant in challenges, medium amount of screen time and still going about her business in a way that isn’t causing her too many headaches. For sure she is on the outs with Spencer, but when you’re a challenge beast as much as she is and have someone like Spencer who certainly is rubbing Tony the wrong way, then things can look in a positive light.”

JARRYD: “Honestly can’t see her pulling it together to win. Few Immunities have kept her safe for a few extra weeks but if it hadn’t been for that it would have been Spencer’s brilliance that saved her, not her own.”

7th – Jefra

OVERALL: 7th ()

BILLY: “She felt she was at the bottom of her alliance. Well, she’s right. But I don’t blame her for not wanting to draw rocks. I think relying on luck should be a last option. Having said that, Jefra hasn’t made any big moves and she’s got little reason to believe that Tony, Woo, or Kass will take her to the end. But yet Trish has Jefra convinced to stay put and make no moves. Though I was wrong about last week, I still predict a blindside in Jefra’s near future.”

BEN: “Jefra made a big choice in not going with Spencer and sticking with Tony and it seemingly was a move to stay around rather than to win. But if she lands at the end against Tony and a bitter jury, then she can still win this game.”

JARRYD: “Played smart and stuck with her alliance yet it makes her seem very dependent and unwilling to make a big move to win the game. Wearing her heart on her sleeve is a bad move and hasn’t shown enough herself to be considered a threat. Very slim chances of taking home the title, in other words, she’s three nil down in a seven game series and game four is on the road.”

12 Comments on Survivor Cagayan Power Rankings with Billy Garcia & Kelly Shinn – Week 9

  1. i would put spencer at 6 or 7 since he should be the next alpha male tony will be targeting. but other than that fair enough rankings

  2. Wow. Kelly’s rankings are really terrible.

  3. Wow Purple Kelly got a Purple Kelly edit in this power rankings

  4. I don’t like to bash people usually, but Kelly’s rankings are absolutely terrible. Tony 7th? He has the God idol, and is therefore pretty much a lock for final 3/4. How anyone could rationalize putting him seventh is beyond me.

    • Haha I had to restrain myself from commenting something similar when I saw that. Don’t want to have a go at Kelly every week

  5. Bob Blackmenson // April 29, 2014 at 3:32 am // Reply

Tasha is a challenge beast…..? Overrated as hell

  6. I think everyone can shut up about Kelly’s rankings. How about you actually read through the comments and see why those rankings are like that instead of making yourselves look stupid. Actually: I’ll help you idiots out: *Due to technical issues Kelly was unable to provide us with comments on her rankings this week

  7. Jefra is way underrated, I think she should be more towards the top of the list. She should definitely be ahead of Tasha, Kass and Spencer.
    My list
    1. Woo
    2. Trish
    3. Tony
    4. Jefra
    5. Kass
    6. Spencer
    7. Tasha

  8. uh oh looks like purple kelly is hinting another quit! lol! 3TEAMTV 😀

  9. Ben’s Trish comments every week literally make me want to shoot myself.
We all knew that Trish’s reaction to Tony flipping on her last week could be detrimental to her game if she blew up at him. It didn’t bother her in the slightest. She was humbled and said “I still trust him and he still trust me.” Yet you see that as a bad edit?
Tony was paranoid and was at camp with 3 members of his alliance. The edit had clearly made him look overly paranoid. That’s why Trish said “are we really strategising?”
I really hope she proves you wrong Ben, I really do.
