Ozcars 2014–12 Best New Survivor Pre-Jury Players

new pre-jury

We continue our reveals of each of our Ozcar categories, and today we bring you who you voted as the top 12 best new pre-jury contestants from the last 2 seasons of Blood vs Water and Cagayan! You know the winner, you know the final five, but did your favourite player just miss out on reaching the finals? Read on to find out!

For this category, it was a simple case of you voting for who you thought was the best new pre-jury player in the last 12 months of Survivor. Only contestants who played for the first time in the last 2 seasons were eligible, and the word ‘best’ was defined by whatever method the voter wanted to define it as. What do you think?

12. Lindsey Ogle (Cagayan) – 15 Votes

It was always going to be difficult for Lindsey to get high in this poll considering how she left the game. Could’ve been a real dark horse for something special had she stuck around, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

11. Rachel Foulger (Blood vs Water) – 31 Votes

A favourite in the sexiest new female poll, Rachel was unable to translate her popularity in that poll across to this one. A vote out by circumstance it seemed, she did at least have a boyfriend go on to win a bit of cash to play with in the future. Small wins…

10. David Samson (Cagayan) – 35 Votes

A little bit of promise was showed but not enough to avoid David becoming the first booted contestant from Cagayan. Going into the game he was talked up for his job, but keeping that secret was always going to be his gameplan. A shame the rest of his gameplan was never really shown.

9. Garrett Adelstein (Cagayan) – 56 Votes

Oh Garrett. So much research amounted to nothing when it came to actually playing the game. It was a bold choice to have your entire tribe stick by you and not talk about voting anybody but J’Tia, and that type of early gameplay would always bite you in the rear end if the opportunity presented itself. Still a top 10 in this poll is no mean feat!

8. Marissa Peterson (Blood vs. Water) – 94 Votes

When you have an uncle who digs a hole for you, you have to somehow climb back out of it. Unfortunately for Marissa she was unable to do it and she found herself battling away on RI instead. Gave a great interview on this show about her time in the Philippines and that gained her plenty of fans. And plenty of those fans helped her land in the top 8 on this list!

7. Cliff Robinson (Cagayan) – 141 Votes

A pro athlete playing in Survivor is always going to have his back against the wall, and for some reason Cliff’s very tall back was always planted against that wall during his brief stay in the game. Was extremely popular amongst his tribe mates which seemed to be his downfall, and for once he had to be content with not making that basket when it mattered.

6. Brice Johnston (Cagayan) – 157 Votes

It looked as though early on Brice was going to cruise into a finalist spot on this list after he was firmly placed in the top 5 for the first half of the final round of voting. However the voting soon slipped away for him, and he was the unlucky 6th place getter just missing out on the finals. A memorable contestant and one who had a lot of potential, wouldn’t surprise me to see him play again in the future.

5. J’Tia Taylor (Cagayan) – Final Voting Percent 13.33%

Tipping out rice and having some very animated and outgoing confessionals was always going to land her high up on this list, but a finalist spot was icing on the cake for the feisty Miss Taylor! Never looked in the hunt for the top prize but taking out 5th is better than 6th!

4. Brad Culpepper (Blood vs Water) – Final Voting Percent 15.40%

Brad was strong, loud and opinionated on Blood vs Water and did enough to make the top 5 of this category. Was 2nd after the first round of voting so looked a good bet to challenge for the prize, but couldn’t quite get ahead when it mattered.

3. John Cody (Blood vs Water) – Final Voting Percent 22.30%

Ended the first round in 3rd, finishes the final round in 3rd. John is a popular guy with a lot of fans, but unfortunately for him it all ended like his time on Blood vs Water: lots of potential but no luck!

2. Laura Boneham (Blood vs Water) – Final Voting Percent 23.42%

Around the Survivor Oz offices the #laurawasrobbed hashtag was used after this vote was revealed, and I still stand by it! I mean the woman came in with a target on her back, survived longer than anyone said she would, turned out to be a challenge beast and very very nearly won through on RI! Give her more love!

1. Alexis Maxwell (Cagayan) – Final Voting Percent 25.55%

Jarryd went into this wanting Alexis to win an Ozcar and he got his wish! Stunningly never challenged in this category, I’m not going to deny I wasn’t a little bit surprised to see her so dominant from the beginning right through to the end. Still, when you love the game as much as Alexis does, it’s a great reward for such a passionate fan!
