We continue our reveals of each of our Ozcar categories, and today we bring you who you voted as the top 25 best new contestants from the last 2 seasons of Blood vs Water and Cagayan! You know the winner, you know the final five, but did your favourite player just miss out on reaching the finals? Read on to find out!
Over the last 12 months, we have seen 28 new players across Blood vs Water & Cagayan. For this category, it was a simple case of you voting for who you thought was the best new player in the last 12 months of Survivor. Only contestants who played for the first time in the last 2 seasons were eligible, and the word ‘best’ was defined by whatever method the voter wanted to define it as. What do you think?
25. Cliff Robinson (Cagayan) – 1 Vote
The tall ex NBA player never got a chance to shine, and was extremely popular. Unfortunately for Cliff everyone seemed to want to get rid of him. But he still beat out 3 other players to crack the top 25! WINNING!
24. Brice Johnston (Cagayan) – 2 Votes
A little surprised to see Brice this low considering his high placing on the best pre-jury list. He has his fans, and was a memorable character. Unfortunately that didn’t translate into a higher place on this list.
23. Brad Culpepper (Blood vs. Water) – 2 Votes
Definitely surprised with Brad being this low and only just scraping into the top 25, he was definitely a huge character who you would have to argue is in with a very good shot at returning one day. Perhaps then he might make it higher on another list!
22. Rachel Foulger (Blood vs. Water) – 3 Votes
Rachel would be satisfied with this position, especially considering she beat out Brad. That’s a win in my books. And she’ll take it!
21. John Cody (Blood vs. Water) – 3 Votes
Another person I thought would be higher, John just misses out on the top 25 but I’m sure will be happy to make this list. He also beat out Brad, and considering Brad took him out in the game, that’s a plus right there!
20. David Samson (Cagayan) – 3 Votes
The first boot of Cagayan beats some big name players to land himself in the top 25. I for one thought he would go far in Cagayan and was completely wrong. Whoops. But 20th is good in this list for him. So yay!
19. Caleb Bankston (Blood vs. Water) – 3 Votes
Calab was always smiling and I’m sure he is smiling still at making the top 25 here. He did fairly well on lists in the Ozcars and was just an average finishing, sort of like his time on Survivor.
18. Marissa Peterson (Blood vs. Water) – 4 Votes
Another contestant who is higher up here than I thought she would be considering her placement on other lists, Marissa had numerous fans during her short stay and they helped her crack the top 20!
17. Jeremiah Wood (Cagayan) – 5 Votes
An Ozcar winner this year already, Jeremiah I’m sure will be content with a top 20 placing on this list. I still stand by him not being as dumb as people made him out to be, and think he would’ve been a massive shot at winning had circumstances been a little better for him. But in the end, 17th is where you voted him, and 17th is where he will stay!
16. Sarah Lacina (Cagayan) – 7 Votes
Oh Sarah. Still one very disappointing game. But hey! You land in 16th place on the best new players list! Go you! Just don’t see where your fellow police officer finished…
15. Jefra Bland (Cagayan) – 11 Votes
Jefra was in a good position until LJ left, something that I have repeated a bit in these lists and other posts, but top 15 on this list is a respectable position for the recently married (now) Mrs Bland! I’m sure it’ll make her beautiful smile show off once again!
14. Morgan McLeod (Cagayan) – 12 Votes
MORGAN WAS ROBBED! Clearly she deserved to win! Ah, kidding, 14th is great for our beloved Miss McLeod and I’ll happily look at her sitting on a rock and celebrate with her!
13. Alexis Maxwell (Cagayan) – 12 Votes
The Ozcar winner for best pre-jury player gets beaten on the best player of the last 12 months list by a player she beat on the previously mentioned list? Does that make sense to anyone else here? Ok then…
12. Katie Collins (Blood vs. Water) – 13 Votes
Katie is a sweetheart. Everyone loves her. And enough people love her to have her narrowly miss out on the top 10 on this list! Now hurry up and get your mum some grandbabies!
11. Woo Hwang (Cagayan) – 36 Votes
The runner-up of Cagayan would’ve possibly been expecting a top 10 spot, but 2 votes cost him a spot in that position! Woo was a likeable guy, but perhaps that decision of his not to take Kass to the end instead of Tony cost him a spot in the top 10. Oh, and a million dollars…
10. J’Tia Taylor (Cagayan) – 38 Votes
Missed out on winning best new pre-jury player but cracks the top 10 and beats the winner of that category! Sterling effort from J’Tia! I want to put this out there now: BRING HER BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON! There are fireworks to be had 2nd time around I’m sure!
9. Vytas Baskauskas (Blood vs. Water) – 46 Votes
Vytas is smiling because he has had a very consistent Ozcars in 2014. Another top 10 spot for him and another thing to gloat over Aras about. And I’m sure that’s all that he is concerned about on these lists!
8. Trish Hegarty (Cagayan) – 51 Votes
Trish and her loyal band of followers online have secured her a top 10 spot on this list! Great work! She even ended up on the same amount of votes of the equally as popular Hayden, which I’m sure will bring out her now famous laugh!
7. Hayden Moss (Blood vs. Water) – 51 Votes
Somewhat surprised that Hayden didn’t crack the top 5 or actually really come close to it, he still firmly entrenched himself in the top 7. Another consistent finisher in this years Ozcar awards, the last 12 months have been good to him and I’m sure we’ll see him again on our screens in the future.
6. LJ McKanas (Cagayan) – 87 Votes
Was a bit neck and neck with Tasha for a while to crack into the finals for our beloved horse man but in the end he’ll settle with a solid 6th place. Another solid finisher in the Ozcars for 2014, will be hoping for an Ozcar win in the future to stamp out his near misses!
5. Ciera Eastin (Blood vs Water) – Final Voting Percent 11.31%
POSITION AFTER FIRST ROUND: 4th (145 Votes)
A drop for Ciera by one spot after the first round but she’ll still be happy not to finish in 6th place again! A decent overall game that saw her win many fans, she will surely come back again and give it another crack in the future!
4. Kass McQuillen (Cagayan) – Final Voting Percent 11.87%
POSITION AFTER FIRST ROUND: 3rd (215 Votes)
Has as many fans as she has haters, Kass on any other season in the last few years would’ve been at the FTC by finishing in 3rd. A twist though saw her narrowly miss out, and once again narrowly miss out on another top 3 spot in the Ozcars for 2014.
3. Tasha Fox (Cagayan) – Final Voting Percent 14.26%
POSITION AFTER FIRST ROUND: 5th (124 Votes)
Goes from battling it out with LJ for a spot in the finals to walking away with the bronze medal in this category! Solid effort! Tasha certainly played a memorable game and had her chances to win it all! Great effort gets rewarded with a great finish here!
2. Tony Vlachos (Cagayan) – Final Voting Percent 29.81%
POSITION AFTER FIRST ROUND: 1st (507 Votes)
A ding dong battle with Spencer for 1st in the 1st round saw the same thing happening in the finals, and for the second year running the winner of one of the new seasons doesn’t walk away as the Best New Player Ozcar winner! Surely this result will upset some, but Spencer fans won’t be amongst them! Vent about Tony in 2nd below!
1. Spencer Bledsoe (Cagayan) – Final Voting Percent 32.75%
POSITION AFTER FIRST ROUND: 2nd (483 Votes)
His third Ozcar of the year, Spencer turns this years ceremony into his own and leap frogs ahead of Tony when it matters to take the prize! Already several of his wins have been disputed by the fans, but when push comes to shove it was the same fans who voted for him to win in the first place! So on that not, a deserved win and I will say this again: CONGRATS SPENCER!
Get excited everyone, tomorrow we’re bringing you the top 25 Survivor Oz Interviews in last twelve months!
