Ozcars 2014–25 Greatest Players Never To Have Won Survivor!

We continue our reveals of each of our Ozcar categories, and today we bring you who you voted as the top 25 Survivor players never to have won of all time! You know the winner, you know the final five, but did your favourite season just miss out on reaching the finals? Read on to find out!

Once again for this poll we added up the total votes received by our Survivor contestants, as well as our Survivor Oz crew and the people who took part on our online poll. No negative votes were taken into count for this poll, and several repeat offenders from last year made an appearance, as well as several new contestants.

25. Terry Deitz (Panama) – 12 Votes

LAST YEAR: 15th (-10)

Terry is always a favourite for people who haven’t won yet drops down significantly this year. Still manages to sneak into the top 25 though which is the main thing.

24. Tasha Fox (Cagayan) – 12 Votes

LAST YEAR: New Entry

Strong performer on Cagayan, Tasha makes the top 25 on her first go. A player that would be great on a second go, I feel as though another shot at the game is going to happen for this super fox!

23. Candice Cody (Cook Islands, Heroes vs. Villains & Blood vs. Water) – 12 Votes

LAST YEAR: New Entry

Jumps into the top 25 on the back of her third appearance, Candice has a lot of fans out there who get behind her for any form of poll she is in. Wouldn’t surprise me to see her improve on this performance next year.

22. Stephenie LaGrossa (Palau, Guatemala & Heroes vs. Villains) – 13 Votes

LAST YEAR: 9th (-13)

Despite a constant strong performance in this category, Stephenie drops back significantly to fall not only out of the top 10 but also out of the top 20. Always a strong competitor who came so close to winning on her second go, lots of people are calling for a fourth appearance for one of the strongest and most popular female contestants of all time.

21. LJ McKanas (Cagayan) – 13 Votes

Odd One Out

LAST YEAR: New Entry

Another strong new player, LJ misses out on the top 20 only just and knocks a couple of big names off in the process. A huge shock when he was voted out, redemption surely will come one day as he should return for a second time no doubt in the future.

20. Jonny Fairplay (Pearl Islands & Micronesia) – 13 Votes

LAST YEAR: 24th (+4)

The fact that he finishes so low in 20th and actually improves compared to last year is bemusing. I know Jonny only cares about these polls if he wins them, so I know for a fact that he won’t care at all where he finishes on this list. Perhaps a campaign to get him to win next year can start right now.

19. Trish Hegarty (Cagayan) – 14 Votes

LAST YEAR: New Entry

Beats some of her Cagayan cast members who beat her in some of the other new polls, Trish cracks the top 20 and beats out some big names along the way. A very strong and passionate fan base, Trish will have calls to come back for a second time at some point but whether or not those fans can get her over the line will remain to be seen.

18. Jonathan Penner (Cook Islands, Micronesia & Philippines) – 14 Votes

LAST YEAR: 12th (-6)

It always surprises me that Penner doesn’t finisher higher in this poll each year. He is extremely popular amongst Survivor fans and played fairly decently across his three different seasons. Perhaps it’s going to take a fourth go around for him to finally crack that million, or at least crack a higher spot on this poll.

17. Mike Borassi (Samoa) – 16 Votes

LAST YEAR: New Entry

Well Spencer might be dominating in the win column for this years Ozcars but Mike Borassi certainly has been pulling off a few surprises. First he makes the top 25 sexiest males of all time, now he cracks the top 25 greatest players never to have won. I expect lots of comments about this.

16. Kass McQuillen (Cagayan) – 16 Votes

LAST YEAR: New Entry

Divided a lot of fans across Cagayan, Kass cements a spot in the top 20 on this list and makes sure she once again is featured in another category in 2014. Could we see #chaoskass back for another crack at the million? Never say never.

15. Yau-Man Chan (Fiji & Micronesia) – 20 Votes

LAST YEAR: 14th (-1)

Yau-Man drops back a spot from last year but still firmly lands in the top 15. A popular contestant who came so so close to winning in Fiji, many want to see him back for a third time and I’m sure that day still may come!

14. Ciera Eastin (Blood vs. Water) – 22 Votes

ciera2_thumb1LAST YEAR: New Entry

CIera finishes her first list just outside the top 10 and like a few newbies before her beats a couple of well established names. Divided opinion as much as she got positive opinions, she was one of the main talking points of Blood vs Water and did so with a smile on her face!

13. Stephen Fishbach (Tocantins) – 31 Votes

LAST YEAR: 11th (-2)

Another consistent finisher on this poll, Stephen just can’t seem to crack a higher spot than around the top 10 or just outside of it. Still seems unfair that he didn’t receive a single vote at that FTC in Tocantins, many question it still and I’m sure Stephen is one of them. Bring him back already!

12. Colby Donaldson (Australian Outback, All-Stars & Heroes vs. Villains) – 33 Votes

LAST YEAR: 7th (-5)

Seems to keep dropping back on this list each year, Colby still lives with his decision to take Tina to the end no doubt after all these years. Imagine if he won season 2 and how different the Survivor landscape might’ve been? There’s a possible episode topic of discussion…

11. Peter Harkey (Marquesas) – 43 Votes

LAST YEAR: New Entry

Already an Ozcar winner for his interview with us, it seems that getting him on the show was a godsend for him to nearly crack the top 10 this year on his third attempt! A first boot making the greatest players of all time never to have won?! I think we have a first here folks!

10. Ozzy Lusth (Cook Islands, Micronesia & South Pacific) – 54 Votes

LAST YEAR: 3rd (-7)

A huge drop for Ozzy who saw the bronze last year and this year barely scrapes in the top 10. It just hasn’t been Ozzy’s year in 2014 for the Ozcars. Not one single finals spot, all of his fans are clearly not on the internet this year. Awkward…

9. Malcolm Freberg (Philippines & Caramoan) – 59 Votes

LAST YEAR: 6th (-3)

Just missed out on a finals spot in 2013, drops back to 9th in 2014. Still extremely popular amongst fans and surely will play again, Malcolm is one tough cookie who does deserve to win this game one day.

8. Rupert Boneham (Pearl Islands, All-Stars, Heroes vs. Villains & Blood vs. Water) – 61 Votes

LAST YEAR: 8th (No Change)

Rupert is popular with a large proportion of the fans but also strongly disliked by the rest of the fans, yet still manages to poll extremely strongly on the back of his fourth appearance on the show. I for once think he is one underrated player in the history of the show, so I’m glad to see him with such a strong finish.

7. Jerri Manthey (Australian Outback, All-Stars & Heroes vs. Villains ) – 67 Votes

LAST YEAR: 10th (+3)

So happy to see Jerri make an improvement this year, it’s only a matter of time before she cracks the finals! An amazing player who has improved big time each time she played, I still feel as though she was arguably the best player of Heroes vs Villains and the fact that she came so close to making the FTC still hurts to this day. Come back Jerri! COME BACK!

6. Amanda Kimmel (China, Micronesia & Heroes vs. Villains) – 77 Votes

LAST YEAR: 4th (-2)

Similar to Ozzy, drops out of the top 5 and can’t seem to crack the finals like she has on previous years. Two time FTC finisher and doing so on her first two tries, Amanda knows how to get far but just can’t get over the final hurdle to walk away a winner. Fourth times a charm perhaps?

5. Benjamin ‘Coach’ Wade (Tocantins, Heroes vs Villains & South Pacific) – Final Voting Percent 5.31%

Survivor: Tocantins - The Brazilian Highlands

LAST YEAR: 18th (+13)

Huge improvement for the Dragon Slayer who takes his first ever finalist spot, couldn’t quite maintain his first round form into the finals though. Finishes third after that first round, he’ll smile knowing he beat some big names to make the top 5. Well done Coach!

4. Rob Cesternino (Amazon) – Final Voting Percent 19.50%

LAST YEAR: 2nd (-2)

1st in 2012, 2nd in 2013 and only 4th in 2014!?! What’s going on voters! Rob doesn’t like to lose and fall back like this, and given he was 2nd after the first round I thought he could wrestle that title back from Cirie and take his 2nd Ozcar. But I was wrong, and very wrong given his drop in the final round. There is always next year of course…

3. Spencer Bledsoe (Cagayan) – Final Voting Percent 23.56%

LAST YEAR: New Entry

He dominated the awards this year and nearly pulled off a surprise result in this category as well. Spencer actually polled strongly in the final round despite initially just scraping into the final round. Surely a contender in this award for many years to come.

2. Cirie Fields (Panama, Micronesia & Heroes vs Villains) – Final Voting Percent 25.71%

LAST YEAR: 1st (-1)

Last years winner had nothing to lose going into this years poll and it was hers once again after the first round. In the final round she also firmly held the lead for the majority of the polling but fell right at the end. She’ll be disappointed no doubt, but a super strong placing again just goes to add to her credibility.

1. Russell Hantz (Samoa, Heroes vs Villains & Redemption Island) – Final Voting Percent 25.93%

LAST YEAR: 5th (+4)

I know this victory has already caused some controversy, but you know I’m going to be quick to defend it no matter what anyone says. Polled strongly in this category the first two years, it was third time lucky for Mr.Hantz as he takes his second ever Ozcar to add to his biggest villain of all time award from 2013! Congratulations Russell!

Our third ‘big four’ reveal is coming your way tomorrow as we count down the best 27 winners of Survivor!

17 Comments on Ozcars 2014–25 Greatest Players Never To Have Won Survivor!

  1. Interesting list.

Mike from Samoa? OK, I have no idea how this happened :))

Jonathan Penner is my personal favorite. He is fun to watch, he did not make a lot of big moves in all three appearances, with the exception of his mutiny in Cook Islands and it was neither a good nor bad move. However, I still think he’s a rational player who is good at strategy and I don’t mind if he comes back the 4th time (many people won’t like this though, as playing 4 times is really too much).

Stephen… BRING HIM BACK. He’s one of the players I want to see back the most on the show. He performed very well in Tocantins but going to the FTC with Mr. Popular J.T. is almost impossible to win for any player. He still should have received some votes if other players know how well he played.

Ozzy. Another personal favorite. I know he’s bad at strategy, I know he seems arrogant, but hey, he made good TV, haha.

Rupert. Hate him. Wish he’ll never be back.

Coach as one of the greatest players never to have won? Nope. Such a joke.

Cirie and Russell will never win, I think. Cirie is because she can hardly win individual immunity challenge, so she’ll be voted out before FTC in any season. Russell is because of his game play. Well, maybe he’ll win if sitting next to him in FTC is… say, Phillip?

Ahhhh, Troyzan needs to be on this list!!

  3. I love Spencer, but he isn’t deserving of all his high placings on these lists. It should go:
    1. Rob C.
    2. Cirie
    3. Russell

  4. Really! Russel over my gal Cirie! I mean, Really!!

  5. disagree I am a die hard Stephanie fan but however I see reason that this list sucks and if it were up to me ozzy deserves the win more than russel

  6. Spencer is the man to beat!

  7. WTF?!? Peter and Mike?!? Who are the trolls who voted for them?!?
And how is it possible that Hayden did not make the top 25?!?

  8. basically if you made the merge in Cagayan, you are one of the “Greatest Players Never to Have Won”..please. Some people need to go re-watch some of the older seasons.

  10. What a joke

  11. The recency bias in this list is off the charts. Seeing Trish on this list makes little sense, despite the fact that she was an okay player. Having Spencer that high is also silly, and I’m a fan of him too. Very weird rankings.

  12. What is with Deitz and Penner so low?
