We’re back for another exit interview today as we chat to the third contestant eliminated from Survivor San Juan Del Sur John Rocker! We also bring you a full episode preview of episode 4, as Noah Groves sits down and takes a look at what you can expect from tomorrow’s episode of the 29th season! Click below for more!
Blindsided in the third episode last week, the always talkative John Rocker sat down with Ben to chat about why he feels Coyopa made a bad move getting rid of him and how they will struggle moving forward, the truth behind the incident with Natalie and why this argument was building up to boiling point from previous challenge confrontations, as well as just how he would’ve faired if Redemption Island had been in play instead of Exile, letting us know where the idol is that he was voted out carrying and turning the tables on Ben and interviewing him throughout the chat!
Each week with our exit interviews we will also bring you a preview of the upcoming episode, as your favourite Ozlet Noah Groves sits down and gives his thoughts on what you can expect from the show tomorrow!
It is now time to bring back a new feature as I preview what is to come in the next episode airing tomorrow. These previews will use the ‘next time on Survivor,’ commercials, Survivor Live extended preview, deleted scenes and events that happened in the previous episode to look forward and see what is in store for us. Please note that only details learnt in the previously stated list will be discussed, if you consider things like what the challenge will be or who is competing in the dual and hints at people’s actions as a spoiler then you should avoid this feature. In saying that, absolutely no boot spoilers will be stated if somehow CBS slips up but the next voted out will be speculated on.
So what do we have in store for Survivor: San Juan Del Sur episode 4, ‘We’re a Hot Mess’?
Last week I discussed Drew’s less than flattering and at times subtle editing. Throughout the first three episodes we have been purposely shown sometimes obvious, sometimes smaller moments of Drew being oblivious or annoying. This has all been building up to tomorrow’s episode which is clearly focused on Drew. Starting with the “next time on Survivor” segment that occurred at the end of last episode. This preview focused entirely on Drew and how he naively believes he is in control of the Hunahpu tribe, followed by Jeremy calling him an idiot during a confessional. The preview ends with a cliff hanger in which Drew attracts Jeff Probst’s attention at the Hero Arena asking him something that he claims the rest of the tribe doesn’t have the guts to ask. What could Drew possibly be talking about? Is it possible that the tribe lost their new flint or even found their old flint and want their reward back? In an entertainment weekly interview last week Jeff Probst teased that “there are certain things that you should never do in Survivor” in episode 4, is this in reference to Drew? I speculated last week that Drew could be the quitter of the season and given Jeremy’s comments that Drew could quit and everything else we are seeing, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is in fact true.
Two web promos have been released that give insight into the hot mess we can expect tomorrow. Firstly both promos have a focus on Drew, highlighting his laziness and attempt to take control of his tribe on a background of mockery saxophone accompaniment. Jeeze, there are not being kind to true are they. On top of this we finally have another Kelley confessional complaining about Drew, Jeremy speaking to Drew who appears to have told Jeremy he doesn’t have his back and Drew speaking to Reed and Jon telling them that there are snakes on the tribe that need to go. Non Drew moments from the preview include Keith telling somebody that Jeremy has the idol and Jeremy claiming that he wants Keith gone. ‘Firefighters R Us’ alliance doesn’t look like it will hold strong but given Jeremy and Keith are the two Hunahpu members who have the most confessionals so far, I can see them both sticking around for the time being. Over on Coyopa, Dale is worried that he is going home should his tribe lose. Based on the heavy Hunahpu focus in the promos I would speculate that Coyopa will win their first immunity challenge. Either way, episode 4 looks like it will live up to its title of a hot mess.
From the Survivor Live exclusive promo and the press release images it is all but confirmed that Jon and Jaclyn will be the couple competing in the Hero Arena dual for reward and exile. The challenge involves using a rope to obtain balls which wall then be launched into baskets and as we all know from ball challenges, expect Probst innuendos! It is impossible to even speculate on who wins this challenge because as seen in the Survivor Live preview, it comes down to literally the last ball, back and forth between the couple trying to launch before each other. Of course most would label Jon as the most likely person to win but based on the history of these duals, anything can happen. The couples who are yet to compete in a Hero Arena dual are Josh and Reed, Dale and Kelley, Alec and Drew and Baylor and Missy. Those who are no longer eligible to compete in the duals are Natalie, Jeremy and Julie. It is unclear whether or not these duals will stay in place after the merge. Perhaps it will come down to two randomly selected people post merge or the duals will be abolished completely.
We get our first ‘actual’ water challenge this week in the form of immunity. A challenge preview video wasn’t released but from the press release images it appears that the tribes will be diving off a platform, collecting some sort of ring and jumping back in. My guess is that the rings will make up some sort of puzzle as we all know every challenge needs a puzzle now days. It seems as if Jeremy, Jon and Kelley are the three Hunahpu tribe members sitting out from the positioning of where they are sitting in the photos. No matter who wins the next challenge, I expect to see a tribe swap next week, unfortunately.
Looking back to the end of episode 1’s “This season on Survivor” super preview, we still have a few teases left to be uncovered. Last week we saw the remaining Rocker scenes, Julie feeling deceived by John and Natalie ordering Coyopa to “get together and vote him out.” We have still yet to see our quitter of the season but my bets are still on Drew or Julie as the most likely candidates. Jon is a potential based on his episode 1 confessional about his sick father and Jaclyn or Reed could also take the spot based purely on their neglected edits. We still haven’t seen Jon claiming that they are going to burn the idol that somebody has; it is possible Jeremy finds the idol and Keith tells Jon about it. Keith also needs to do what he claims is “the worst thing you can do on Survivor,” is that in reference to tomorrow’s episode and Jeremy? We a gradually checking everything off our super preview tease!
Episode 4 ‘We’re a Hot Mess’ will air Wednesday night 8pm EST on CBS in the United States and Thursday at 9:30 PM AEDST on channel Go! in Australia.
Our thanks must go out to CBS and Channel 9 for arranging these exit interviews for us.
