We’re back for another exit interview today as we chat to the eighth contestant eliminated from Survivor San Juan Del Sur Josh Canfield! We also bring you a full episode preview of episode 9, as Noah Groves sits down and takes a look at what you can expect from tomorrow’s episode of the 29th season! Click below for more!
After his elimination from the eighth episode, Josh Canfield sat down with Ben to talk about the fan reaction since his boot, why he loves the Survivor Oz listeners, what moment he feels was his downfall in the game, Reed and his challenge dominance, who he is rooting for in the game if Reed can’t win as well as comparing Survivor to Spiderman and pleasing one listener in particular!
Each week with our exit interviews we will also bring you a preview of the upcoming episode, as your favourite Ozlet Noah Groves sits down and gives his thoughts on what you can expect from the show tomorrow!
It is now time to bring back a new feature as I preview what is to come in the next episode airing tomorrow. These previews will use the ‘next time on Survivor,’ commercials, Survivor Live extended preview, deleted scenes and events that happened in the previous episode to look forward and see what is in store for us. Please note that only details learnt in the previously stated list will be discussed, if you consider things like what the challenge will be or who is competing in the dual and hints at people’s actions as a spoiler then you should avoid this feature. In saying that, absolutely no boot spoilers will be stated if somehow CBS slips up but the next voted out will be speculated on.
So what do we have in store for Survivor: San Juan Del Sur episode 9, ‘Getting’ to Crunch Time’?
We are back to two challenges this episode with one team reward challenge and the usual individual immunity challenge. The team reward brings back a variation of an old favourite challenge of a series of duals in which the players attempt to knock each other off the platform, this time into a pit of mud. On the orange team we have Natalie, Baylor, Jeremy, Alec and Reed while the blue team has Jaclyn, Missy, Keith, Wes and John. Luckily for Missy equal teams means no sitting out for anyone. Some of the match ups that have been shown in promo pictures are: Natalie VS Jaclyn, Alec VS Keith, Reed VS Wes and a Missy and Baylor rematch. Assumingly we will then have Jeremy and John versing. It can probably be said with confidence that the winning team will send a loser to Exile Island. I wonder if this person will find where the idol should have been hidden and place a target on Jon’s back. If Jon’s team loses he will probably be sent again. In what looks to be a unique individual immunity challenge, contestants must balance or use their feet and a wooden block to prevent something. Keep an eye out for the CBS behind the scenes of challenges video that usually gets uploaded the day of the episode.
As was seen in the next time on Survivor segment, Reed will be causing drama at camp after the loss of Josh last week. The advertisements further explore this. BY the looks of things Reed uninvitingly searches through Keith’s bag and finds the idol clue, then going on to tell the opposing alliance that Keith has an idol. While I applaud Reed not going down without a fight, I do think this will be a mistake in his game. If he suspects Keith has an idol then he should approach him and work together to attempt to blindside someone from Jeremy’s alliance. Especially if someone from Reed’s alliance won immunity then it would be a 50/50 chance of success. Instead he is going to become public enemy number 1 to everyone and may not even be believed by Jeremy’s group and rather seen as Reed’s last ditch effort. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of rhyme and reason to his actions and will probably be the thing that secures his vote out. Given Reeds edit (or lack thereof) I wouldn’t be shocked if he was gone even with a whimper in tomorrow’s episode but given the Survivor Live exclusive scene, the new time on Survivor segment and the web promos were all about Reed causing drama, it will probably be a prominent part of the episode and Reed’s biggest edit yet.
As noted above, most of any preview was focused on Reed’s actions but the other big note of point in the promo’s is the quote “biggest blindside yet (in this season).” This is probably an exaggeration like most promos to hook viewers in but it will probably still be a big vote of sorts. I always had a feeling that this merge was going to be unpredictable and hopefully it stays that way. This is pure speculation but I feel like it could be time for someone from Jeremy’s alliance to go home because let’s face it, someone from the all men alliance would not be a big blindside. In the promo Jeremy claims he can only trust Natalie and that there seems to be some tension or mistrust between himself and the “power couple” of Jonclyn. Natalie is shown strategizing with Keith and Wes and Keith claims he isn’t happy with Missy so perhaps it could be a mother/daughter who are victim to a blindside. If we are going purely off edit then it probably wouldn’t be a shock if we saw Jaclyn being voted out. In reality this “biggest blindside yet” is probably nothing huge to dwell over but it would certainly mix things up if someone from team Jeremy went home!
Now that we are in the second half of the game and are drawing closer and closer towards the end, I attend to introduce a new aspect of the preview where I rank every contestant in order of who is most likely to win based mostly on the edit with gameplay as well. Unlike the power rankings which can also be ranked based on week to week performances and immediate futures this is solely chance of winning and is not necessarily where they currently stand or the order in which I think they will be booted. So someone who is ranked low could still become a third placer. This week the bottom three stays the same three players, Jeremy and Jon move up one spot now that Josh who was number 1 is gone, Keith and Missy switch places, Jaclyn rises three whole spots but is still doubtful she will win and Baylor drops slightly. At this point I will be extremely shocked if anyone outside the top 4 win San Juan Del Sur.
Episode 9 ‘Getting’ to Crunch Time’ will air Wednesday night 8pm EST on CBS in the United States and Thursday at 9:30 PM AEDST on channel Go! in Australia.
