RankingsCastFullList
For the last month you have sat through 34 hours worth of episodes as we ranked every single contestant in the history of Survivor in the lead up to the 30th season of ! As promised, we now present to you the FULL list of all the contestants ranked in order from 442 right down to number 1! Click below for more!

Every single episode recorded was a marathon, and each episode explains each contestants position in more detail. We fully recommend you listen to each of the episodes to find out just why each person was ranked in their respective position as seeing the list below doesn’t do the rankings justice and makes it look like a fairly simple exercise, which it wasn’t! In understanding the list, some contestants are on there twice due to the ‘veto’ rule. In the veto column you can see which Ozlet vetoed the decision, even if the decision wasn’t successful. 66 Comments on Survivor Oz Rankings Cast–Full List

  1. Candice 244, Ozzy 67 but Penner 59 just because he is a friend of the show…
Ben come on, he was pathetic in Cook Islands, and he made one of the worst mistakes ever in Philippines, and Cirie flipped because of him in Micronesia.
And Jeremie 120, the guy survived at TC, and was blindsided after, what a good performance…

    • “We fully recommend you listen to each of the episodes to find out just why each person was ranked in their respective position as seeing the list below doesn’t do the rankings justice and makes it look like a fairly simple exercise”

And ladies and gentleman we have our first person to ignore the blatantly obvious explanation at the start!

If this was ranked on ‘friends of the show’, Purple Kelly would be number one followed by Billy Garcia and John Carroll. If you honestly think we have ranked things based on ‘friends’ then please make sure you actually tune into these (as explained at the start) so that you don’t simply base your opinions on something you have no idea the reasoning behind

      • Agreed Ben. The list is well reasoned for the most part and well debated. There was no way it was ever going to be “perfect” and agreed on by everyone. You guys did a fantastic job and won’t hear a negative word from me.
        Listen to the show.

      • I listen the podcast, and of course Purple Kelly and Billy are not number 1/2 but they are too high. How Billy is a better player than JP?
Brenda, Lisa, and Candice (people that you hate everyone knows) are worst player than Reynold, or Jeremy a guy who survived at 2 TC. And RC is 165 whereas she didn’t at any TC but by luck she is a friend of the show.
I don’t blame you Ben, but you are not objective at all. I just pont out some facts.

      • You completely contradicted yourself. You say ‘of course Purple Kelly and Billy are not number 1/2’ yet then still claim I’m not objective? Good luck there mate 🙂 If you want to make outlandish accusations then please go ahead. I also would love to sit down and listen to you rank 442 contestants and tell me how easy it is, going through every single contestant and ‘objectively’ (as you claim) making the list ‘valid’. Good luck!

      • Dang do not double cross Ben! :-p

The only spot I truly disagree with and think personal bias may have come into play is Eliza. She should have been at least 100 spots lower. She was detested by almost everyone on both of her seasons. Her game was okay at best in Vanuatu. Chris saved her big time. In Micronesia, she would have been voted out pre-merge had Penner and Kathy not been evacuated/quit. Even outside of the game, she’s abrasive and arrogant with many people, and I have a hard time seeing a scenario where she could ever win the game.

      • Ratchael // March 2, 2015 at 4:28 am //

He doesn’t mean that you’ve placed your friends at the top places, he means that you’e placed them higher than they should have been.

  2. Great list! However there were a few repeats. Val, kass, tony, JT, reed, cowboy, and Amanda are all put twice. And Corinne Kaplan is put four times . Not sure if it was intentional due to different opinions or if it was an accident. Or maybe my phone is loading it improperly idk :p

    • Oh never mind, just read the beginning now, you guys already mentioned the repeated players my bad! Sorry about that

  3. Loved these rankings. Not only liked the interesting debate, but it also gave me a greater insight into some games of the less relevant contestants. While there are some points on the list I do disagree with (I have Earl as my #1 winner), you can’t please everyone, so I still like the way this list has been done. Good Work guys. #KateIsJazz

  4. Honestly Cirie should be in top 10. But you have great players in top 10 though.

  5. btw I will join the Earl fan club

  6. I listened from the very beginning to the very end of this podcast, and I gotta say this was amazing! You guys literally read my mind for some of these, and as a hard core fan, I respect every position here…even if Russell Hantz is at 30, I agree with Ben that he should have been higher, but you know, this whole list is awesome! Great job!

  7. Listened to every second of this and enjoyed every one as well! Great list

  8. Some of the list doesn’t make sense. Just because Russell found idols without cluez he’s number 30? I’ve heard the podcast but Natalie White and Amber being lower then Russell, Lex, Jerri, and even Amanda is absolutely insane. INSANE.

  9. sandra 1st just no it should be Tony russell fairplay rob c kim brian ritchard

    • 1. I think this was made before Tony… No idea though
      2. Yes Russel played a great strategic game, but his social game was so bad it cancelled out the strategic part.
      3. Fairplay was fine the first time, but did you watch the second?
      4. I haven’t really ever watched Rob play, so no comment.
      5. Look above,
      6. Look above
      7. Richard only played well because he was the only person on the island who had any idea how to play. In a modern season, when everybody can play, he would not do as well.

  10. Good job guys, you can’t agree with every single 442 spots, that’s just impossible. I just want to say that I love Earl being that high, he is kind of forgotten and rarely mentioned in the greatest player lists. For me he is the best player this game has ever seen. He is the kind of player who could win the ‘all winners’ season.

  11. Still don’t understand how J.T. can be ahead of Parvati. He is the reason that the Heroes lost. He blew it hardcore. Im sorry but you can never assume in Survivor what is happening with the other tribe and he made one of the biggest mistakes ever.

Does anyone else think Siska should be lower and Aaron from China much higher?

    • I’m fine with Siska, but I do think Aaron should be much higher.

      • Brennen Parker // March 3, 2015 at 6:57 am //

The only think that kept him from making the worst move in Micronesia, yes, worse than Erik, was the fact that Ozzy lost immunity and Cirie got smart.Played dumb the whole game.

  13. This list is atrocious, holy shit.

    • Tom Aizenberg // May 1, 2015 at 1:38 pm // Reply

Yea this list has a lot of reallly strange picks. Ozzy at 67 behind Jenna Lewis, Trish hegarty, Holly Hoffman, and Clay Jordan is RIDICULOUS, and there is no way Cochran is better than Rob C because he lucked into the perfect Final TC. And Vecepia is not top 30 that is BS. Lastly, Rob and Parvati are both top 5 players over Earl and Tony thats unbelievable. But other then that this list is half descent. #StillAFan

      • Frederick // June 9, 2015 at 9:19 am //

Earl had a excellent game, Tony had an excellent game. Parvati/Rob won against at minumum half new players, while they were on 2nd/4th time which makes their win possibly easier.

      • Tom Aizenberg // September 8, 2015 at 11:25 am //

Earl did have an excellent game and he is in my top 10 along with tony. And i agree, rob did take four times. But parvati pretty much won twice. She only lost HvV because of the bitter jury and she underratedly dominated micronesia and would have beaten Cirie in a final 3.

  14. Alex Cousins // March 2, 2015 at 10:44 am // Reply

Wow guys this is great. The only thing I really disagree with is having Leif way too low at 339. But other than that, great list and I’m totally going to make my own now!

    • Alex Cousins // March 2, 2015 at 10:50 am // Reply

Also, I’m happy Austin, Wes, Ryan O., and Carter made it as far as they did. I expected them to be lower because people say they “didn’t do anything”.

  15. Parvati Shallow should be Number 1

    • Zach Chong // March 28, 2015 at 2:01 am // Reply

Parvati Shallow is maybe the most over-rated survivor ever. she should be around Russell Hantz’s spot!

    • Parvati Shallow was an amazing playing in her second season, and even recognized the awful game she played the first time around.

    • Yes, in my opinion Parvati had a top 5 game by a winner; but her game in Cook Islands was just to get a boyfriend and HvV she just rode coattails of Russell. Russell should have got the three votes instead of Parvati, the only thing they saw is the idol plays.

      • Tom Aizenberg // September 8, 2015 at 11:29 am //

Parvati did not ride coattails in HvV. She controlled and manipulated Russell and used him to get to the end. Thats not coattail riding. She was the one running the show and the only reason she lost to sandra was because All star seasons have bitter juries because they have inflated egos. Does anyone really think it made sense that people like Candice and Amanda think Sandra played better than parvati? of course not! They were angry because parvati beat them again. and in cook islands she did do nothing but she still got 6th place and had penner not flilpped she couldve been in the final 3, Just saying

      • Tom, I get your points but I still believed she rode coat tails. Russell played better than her in HvV

  16. Lots of questionable rankings, actually didn’t watch much of the ranking since it didn’t seem objective enough. Overall the top 10 wasn’t bad, I would have put Brian higher though but its at least not outside of where he should be at. Tony at 3 perhaps too high, I can see the temptation to put him there, but just don’t think Cagayan had good players compared to other seasons, so don’t think Tony would be able to trick everyone like that. Only one I don’t understand is Chris, he is easily the worst winner I’ve ever seen, nothing personally but he is the only winner I can say the stars lined up for them to win, he just capitalised from endless luck and people saving him the entire season. Even thought Twila got robbed that season, played way better that jury was a joke. Even stopped watching survivor for a bit back then.

  18. Where is Cesternino

  19. Brennen Parker // March 3, 2015 at 7:11 am // Reply

I think Marty should be higher. None of my top three favorites (obviously not best) made the top 90. I think Courtney Yates should be higher than Shane even with your reasoning

  20. I mean, was this list awful, no, however so many people slipped in such high spots, while so many other great players had the whole “I feel they deserve this spot.” For example, people like Alina Wilson and Ashley Underwood who almost did nothing got in front of people like Brenda Lowe and Laura Morett. Other then that, good list, just wish some greater players could have moved up more, and that winning dosent give you such a pass to the end.

  21. Terry Dietz should be a lot higher than 51. He was one of the best non-winners Survivor has seen.

  22. I can’t find Stacey from South Pacific. I must of missed her when i listened

  23. Hope you don’t mind me posting this, no hard feelings if you delete:

Lowest-ranking players who made the merge:
    5. Brandon Hantz
    4. Lisi Linares
    3. Julie McGee
    2. Kelly Shinn
    1. Janu Tornell

Highest-ranking players who did not make the merge:
    5. Tracy Hughes-Wolf
    4. Ace Gordon
    3. Matt Bischoff
    2. Brian Corridan
    1. Marcus Lehman

    Lowest-ranking finalists
    5. Sugar Kiper
    4. Dreamz Herd
    3. Woo Hwang
    2. Kim Johnson
    1. Natalie Tenerelli

    Highest-ranking non-winners
    5. Russell Hantz
    4. Colby Donaldson
    3. Jonny Fairplay
    2. Rob Cesternino
    1. Cirie Fields

Highest-ranking non-winners who played only once:
    5. Helen Glover
    4. Neleh Dennis
    3. Kelly Wiglesworth
    2. Rafe Judkins
    1. Stephen Fishbach

  24. The rankings are well debated and well thought out.

I agree that multiple attempts should be viewed more cautiously, but still given lots of credit for.

The experience advantage of a returnee over a first time player is massive- the knowledge of shelter building, fire maintenance and strategy makes this almost like a repeat of the fiji twist. See the results of FvF seasons, and the adulation of Stephenie and Rob during their returnee seasons.

However, playing a second time means that other people know your playing style, and might remove you quickly if they consider you a big threat- see Tina in Allstars, and Yau Man in Micronesia. How to navigate this new environment will be tricky for many players.

It is definitely a challenge to do extremely well or win in any season, so people who are able to come back and do well have gained the ability to read other people and manipulate them effectively (ie are great survivor players). The skills that are tested in a fresh season vs returnee season are somewhat different though- a returnee winner seems biased towards under the radar and low threat players. Thus, while very good players regardless of times played should be ranked highly, the more accurate comparison would be to have a separate list of fresh player accomplishments and of returning player accomplishments (regardless of how many times they return).

Following from Justin’s lead, here is a rearranging of the table based on these criteria:

Highest ranking players for fresh season
    5. Richard Hatch
    4. Earl Cole
    3. Todd Herzog
    2. Tony Vlachos
    1. Kim Spradlin

Highest ranking players for returning season(s)
    5. John Cochran
    4. Cirie Fields
    3. Rob Mariano
    2. Parvati Shallow
    1. Sandra Diaz Twine

Along similar lines of simplifying a very complex and subjective ranking (which was done extremely well!), it might be nice to rank players on the separate areas of social, strategy and physical. (Could have already been a top10 writeup)

  25. Hi

I saw the rankings podcast appear on my iPod and I decided not to listen to it. It seemed too long and although I have seen every season, I’ve only seen each one once and I was sure that I would have no idea who the people were and whether they were good or bad.

I then listened to the first episode recap of worlds apart and heard the rankings podcast referred to and decided to read the list that was not yet up on the website, but Ben made the rankings sound interesting and the idea that one person had listened twice intrigued me, so I started to listen.

As I type this I have just begun listening to part 3 of the fifth (and final) episode, I’ve not read anything to spoil the end and I just want to say thank you. All of you. The time and effort that went into this is amazing and your knowledge and passion for the game and its players shines through.

Although I haven’t agreed with some of the picks, I am in no way qualified enough to argue with your decisions. The only thing I would have done differently would be to limit the number of vetoes you were allowed to use, that would have made there use a little more selective.

Thanks again I will now go and finish the episode so I can get online and see just how much other people loved it (or hated it) 😆.

    Tracy

  26. Parvati Shallow should be number one. She’s the victim of her own greatness. Everyone is basically over her because she’s been so widely hailed as the best ever that she’s old news now.

  27. Zach Chong // March 28, 2015 at 1:58 am // Reply

I think Woo & Jefra are way too low. Both deserve top 150. Trish is overrated.

  28. Zach Chong // March 28, 2015 at 1:59 am // Reply

Also, Natalie T. is a good player. not that low. maybe top 200

    • feistyboy35 // July 20, 2015 at 12:55 am // Reply

Natalie T is a horrible player. One of the worst ever on the show and by far the worst finalist ever on the show.

  29. Zach Chong // March 28, 2015 at 2:03 am // Reply

I think Earl is better than Tony. Tony is not the greatest male to play Survivor. I think it’s Earl, Todd or Chris.

  30. FairplaysGrandma // April 19, 2015 at 9:22 am // Reply

Holy crap I just listened to that entire thing in a row.

  31. Reblogged this on lifeofabigailjustine and commented:
This is from a blog about Survivor, which happens to be an amazing blog.

  32. Really not a bad list considering it ranks every player to have ever played. I only had 2 problems. First, the winners are ranked too high for just being winners. I believe there are more non winners who played better games than someone like Aras. Secondly, Tony the third best of all time? Really?! He had an overpowered idol and made several mistakes that could have cost him the game. Sorry he is not top 10 in my opinion. I still think Russell is too high/low at 30, but at least you didn’t put him in the top 20 like most people do.

  33. Rob Mariano should be listed higher

Also, Tyson Apostol is listed as only on Tocantins, it doesn’t Sat he was on Heroes vs Villains or Blood vs Water. Ami Cusack is listed as only on Vanuatu, but she was also on Micronesia

  34. The biggest thing I disagree with is Parvati being so low. She should in the top 3 at least.

  35. #kate_is_jazz // July 7, 2015 at 5:47 pm // Reply

Epic undertaking boys and Kate, really top notch stuff, can you please try and slot in the world’s apart crew so the list stays up to date (means you don’t have to redo it before season 40 ahahah

  36. Horrible rankings. Why the fuck is Phillip Sheppard so high!?!? He is one of the worst players ever on the show. Natalie Tenerelli also belongs almost dead last.

Ozzy in the 60s?!?! Are you kidding me. Below Penner.

Horrible list. The only thing I agree with is Boston Rob outside the top 10.

  37. In hindsight, Jeremy being directly below Vytas is hilarious.

  38. I think too much of this list is ranked based off their games, rather than the actual players themselves. You should be ranking players based off that if they were to play a 1000 simulations of Survivor, who would win the most. All I here is that they would win their season, but that’s not how to rank an overall player.

  39. I really enjoyed these rankings. I do wonder where the Worlds Apart cast would rank, how Second Chance would affect the people already on the board, and how the Kaoh Rong people would rank as well. For winners, I’m guessing Mike would go around where Fabio was, and Jeremy deserves to move up to the Top 10. Anyways lots of fun.
