Survivor Cambodia Power Rankings–Week 3

PowerRankingsCambodia_thumb1_thumb_t

For the 31st season of Cambodia we will be once again bringing you our weekly POWER RANKINGS as Ben & Noah are joined by Ozlets Colin & Jarrod to rank the contestants each week based on performance and strategy and where they are perceived to be in the game! We continue our rankings for another week with our episode 3 rankings, which we are sure will cause speculation and debate as we get closer to next weeks episode!

HOW THE RANKINGS ARE CALCULATED

Each week Ben, Noah, Colin & Jarrod will rank the remaining contestants based on their opinion of where they stand in the game, with the four totals being tallied to produce a total score . The lowest total score will be ranked at the top, with the second lowest in second, third lowest in third and so on and so forth. Each week the overall list will be published, separated into two tribes. It will combine into one list once the tribes merge (or two/three should there be a tribe dissolve).

LEADERBOARD

Once again during Cambodia we will be scoring who gets the closest each week with the POWER RANKINGS LEADERBOARD! The ranker who gets their ranking for the previous weeks eliminated contestant will score a point. If they predict the exact finishing position then they will score 2 points. If there are two or more rankers on the same prediction/number, they will both get the said points amount. Here is the leaderboard after this weeks episode:

POS RANKER SCORE
1st Noah Groves 2 (+1)
2nd Colin Hilding 1
= Ben Waterworth 1 (+1)
4th Jarrod Loobeek 0

BAYON RANKINGS

1st – Jeremy

JeremyS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 1st (+1)
BEN RANK: 1st
NOAH RANK: 1st
COLIN RANK: 1st
JARROD RANK: 1st

BEN: “Having a great season and now finding an idol. Working well with everyone and nobody has even uttered his name as a threat. The switch hasn’t hurt him, he is going very far in this game and can win it for sure.”

NOAH: “Jeremy had a strong week in this episode. He picked a strong tribe which gave him three of his prior tribe members and began talking with Spencer who could potentially be another ally. The obvious plus for him this week was finding the hidden immunity idol which if played right will be a huge advantage going forward. If Bayon ever have to go to tribal council not only is Jeremy in the majority but he also has the safety net of the idol. Expect to see Jeremy make the merge. While he is on top for now I am cautious after his edit in San Juan Del Sur…there is still a lot of game left to be played!”

COLIN: “Jeremy has a lot of power in this season. He’s been the front man of a few majority alliances, has ties to those on the outside, particularly with Spencer this week, and now has the protection of an idol. This is everything I wanted to see from him in San Juan Del Sur. I hope it doesn’t fall apart from him. The only down side for Jeremy right now is that he’s on a tribe with so many people we’ve seen so little of. That makes their moves too hard to predict.”

JARROD: “Jeremy looks to be good with all the original Bayon members on his tribe. Add to that the relationship he’s cultivating with Spencer and the idol he found at the challenge and I don’t think there’s any doubt that he’s in the prime position for now.”

2nd – Spencer

SpencerS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 6th (+11)
BEN RANK: 5th
NOAH RANK: 3rd
COLIN RANK: 6th
JARROD RANK: 13th

BEN: ”Another who is on the wrong side of numbers but he has formed a bond with Jeremy and seriously did we see a 5 minute scene of him talking about his inability to not say “I love you” to his girlfriend for no reason? Setting him up for something long term with Jeremy and still so much emphasis on him trying to change his game around. he could easily still win this game.”

NOAH: “Spencer seems to be on the bottom of the tribe but is in a much better position than he was on the old Ta Keo. He is getting a tonne of airtime and most of it being positive. He is being shaped less as a game bot and more of a person through his girlfriend story and his crying. He is doing a good job of working his way in with Jeremy and is a strong competitor in the challenges. Spencer had a good week but if Bayon lose he could still be in a lot of trouble.”

COLIN: “He’s learning from his mistakes fast. The new Bayon haven’t given us a lot in terms of alliances, strategy or social interactions just yet, but Spencer was in the middle of the only real moment they had. It’s probably a crazy idea to rank him this high considering on paper he came to the new tribe outside of a majority, but I have a feeling he’s in with Jeremy now.”

JARROD: “Much like Stephen the swap likely saved Spencer from certain elimination but he still finds himself outnumbered on new Bayon. It’s clear he’s trying to invest more socially with the other players and his relationship with Jeremy could be key to keeping him safe provided Bayon doesn’t lose a handful of challenges.”

3rd – Monica

MonicaS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 9th (+7)
BEN RANK: 6th
NOAH RANK: 13th
COLIN RANK: 8th
JARROD RANK: 9th

BEN: “MONICA EXISTS! I SAW HER! DID YOU!?!? She is in the majority on her current tribe and the old Bayon. She is being setup for a quintessential middle of the pack player. Isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.”

NOAH: “She was heard from once this episode. She is in the Bayon majority. Her name is Monica.”

COLIN: “Please give us something to rank her on, either positive or negative. Seriously, this is just frustrating.”

JARROD: “With one confessional it feels like her screen time increased by 100% but she’s still a non-entity so far. If tribe lines are thrown out the window she could be in trouble simply by being one of the weaker challenge performers.”

4th – Kimmi

KimmiS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 11th (+1)
BEN RANK: 9th
NOAH RANK: 12th
COLIN RANK: 11th
JARROD RANK: 8th

BEN: “She is becoming the new Monica. I know she is there but we just don’t see her. Which is sad. SHOW US MORE KIMMI DAMMIT!”

NOAH: “It kills me that Kimmi is slowly joining Monica in the purple club. She is in a majority alliance on a strong tribe but I am REALLY hoping we get to hear from her more next episode.”

COLIN: “I’m pretty sure Kimmi had a close up this week….. Really hoping for more to report next week.”

JARROD: “A quiet week for Kimmi but based on original tribes she’s in the majority. Could bond with Kelly over being old school players but at this point she doesn’t need to.”

5th – Stephen

StephenS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 12th (+6)
BEN RANK: 10th
NOAH RANK: 7th
COLIN RANK: 13th
JARROD RANK: 11th

BEN: “Well at least his episode involved more about playing Survivor and less about him not being able to camp and shit right?”

NOAH: “Stephen makes a big improvement over the first two weeks but still isn’t in the best situation possible. He is in the majority but is still being targeted as the guy who is obsessed about idols and I get the feeling he isn’t too trusted. If Bayon do lose I feel like he would be the most likely to be voted out of the Bayon four, Jeremy, Kimmi, Monica and himself. For now Stephen is in an ok position but I don’t see a situation where he wins the game.”

COLIN: “Definitely in a better position than the first few episodes, but he has a reputation that just won’t go away. What Stephen really needs is another target as a strong ally.”

JARROD: “While Stephen looks to be in a better position due to the tribe swap, I’d argue that he’s not out of the woods yet. The screen time he had once again revolved around talk of the hidden immunity idol and he still could be viewed as a strategic threat that needs to go.”

6th – Kelly

KellyS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 13th (-5)
BEN RANK: 11th
NOAH RANK: 11th
COLIN RANK: 15th
JARROD RANK: 15th

BEN: “WHERE IS MY WIGLESWORTH CBS?!?! SHOW ME MORE WIGLESWORTH! She caught a scorpion. That gave me a taste. But I want the whole plate dammit!”

NOAH: “Poor Kelly went from being in a tight majority alliance to being on the outs. Not only that but Spencer is working his arse off to get in with the Bayon majority which could make her even more of a target to go home. Her best bet is to target Spencer or hope that Stephen is on the outs still going forward. That being said Bayon is a strong tribe so she could be safe for a while.”

COLIN: “It hasn’t been pointed out very much on air, but Kelly seems to be just on the outside of this game week after week. Varner didn’t do her any favours this week either.”

JARROD: “Kelly is another player who got a raw deal based on the swap. She looks to be on the outs of the tribe and Varner’s signalling at the challenge probably wont help her case. If she can prove her worth in the challenges she’s easily the strongest female on the tribe and that may be her only hope of sticking around long term.”

TA KEO RANKINGS

1st – Joe

JoeS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 2nd (+5)
BEN RANK: 3rd
NOAH RANK: 5th
COLIN RANK: 3rd
JARROD RANK: 2nd

BEN: “Golden boy continues to be golden. Surely he is going at the merge? But right now he is up high and continues to be golden.”

NOAH: “At seems the legend of Joey amazing lives on and that he can do no wrong. Not only is Joe in the majority alliance with Ciera, Kass and Keith, he also seems to be talking to both Kelley and Terry. His physical strength will make him a valuable asset to keep around and should Ta Keo ever go to tribal council he will probably be safe from the vote. Joe is in a good position but that will probably change when if he makes the merge.”

COLIN: “I still say it is only a matter of time before Joe becomes a pre-merge target. The new Ta Keo looks strong on paper based on a physical game, but weak on the strategic front. I see it more likely that Ciera assumes control, but Joe will be very necessary for tribe strength going forward.”

JARROD: “Universally loved by everybody in the game it seems, if original tribe lines stay intact he’s golden. Plus we saw him having some strategic conversation with Kelley so that’s another potential connection to keep him safe.”

2nd – Ciera

CieraS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 4th (+5)
BEN RANK: 12th
NOAH RANK: 4th
COLIN RANK: 5th
JARROD RANK: 3rd

BEN: “Some airtime from Ciera! Good to see! But also not a whole lot new from her. So can’t really say too much on where she is at except 12th seems decent.”

NOAH: “We haven’t seen anything ground breaking from Ciera thus far but she is in a good position. She is in the majority on her tribe and seems to have good bonds with everyone on the tribe. If Ta Keo go to tribal council she will more than likely be safe from at least the first vote. Once Ciera has to go to tribal we will probably see much more of her and that will make or break if she is too high in this ranking.”

COLIN: “A lot of invisible games floating around out there. Ciera has the best of them so far, which I base only on how she’s able to stay on the right side of numbers without drawing attention to herself.”

JARROD: “Hugely beneficial that Ciera is placed on arguably the strongest tribe on paper so there’s no reason to boot her for tribe strength. Got a fair amount of screentime and was part of all the key discussions in the episode.”

3rd – Kass

KassS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 7th (+8)
BEN RANK: 4th
NOAH RANK: 8th
COLIN RANK: 9th
JARROD RANK: 7th

BEN: “Is this me putting Kass in the top 5 when there isn’t 5 people left?!? Wow! But she is playing it great. She is being social, she is in with the main people and she hasn’t pissed anyone off yet. Based off what we have seen, she is going to go far.”

NOAH: “Kass is on a really strong tribe and is a part of the majority. I still say she has zero chance of winning this game but for now she is in a fine position. If Ta Keo lose I could see her being a target if Terry and Kelley can swing things around. She seems to be keeping calm at least…for the time being..”

COLIN: “Kass is not only still here, but she’s moving up every week. Keeping under the radar and not fighting is working. Unfortunately it’s also making her a painfully boring character. I’m torn.”

JARROD: “It feels weird to place Kass this high but the original Bayon players on Ta Keo look to be tight and there’s no evidence to suggest she’s thinking of changing things up at this point in time.”

4th – Keith

KeithS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 8th (+2)
BEN RANK: 13th
NOAH RANK: 6th
COLIN RANK: 7th
JARROD RANK: 6th

BEN: “How the hell can you have Keith Nale on another season of Survivor and not show the man?!?!??? He is gold everytime he opens his mouth so we just need to see him opening his damn mouth!”

NOAH: “We NEED to see more of Keith. Ok maybe this is a little too high for him but I don’t see him fitting in anywhere else. Unless he screws up majorly I don’t see a situation where Keith doesn’t make the merge at this point. He is happy go lucky on a very strong tribe and isn’t a threat. Kelley, Terry, Joe and Kass are much more likely to be targeted than him before the merge. I am doubtful that Keith can win but in the meantime he is in a good position.”

COLIN: “The former Bayon (now Ta Keo) alliance of four could go either way. We have no pre-existing footage to show that they are that tight, and there are a lot of wild cards in the mix. Until we see more of them it’s safe to say that Keith is in a majority, as long as everyone sticks to the plan.”

JARROD: “Keith is quickly becoming invisible, which is a bit of a worry but he is part of the original Bayon majority on the new Ta Keo. Hoping we see some more entertaining moments from Keith in the coming weeks.”

5th – Kelley

KelleyS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 10th (-8)
BEN RANK: 2nd
NOAH RANK: 10th
COLIN RANK: 12th
JARROD RANK: 15th

BEN: “Sure in terms of numbers from the old tribes she is on the bottom, but as we saw with Angkor that doesn’t really mean nothing when it comes to a vote. Still has an idol, is doing what she can to throw people under the bus to get her far. She isn’t going anywhere.”

NOAH: “Kelley is in the minority but not in the worst position in the game. She still has her idol that no one knows about and I could see her socializing well with Ciera and Joe, the younger people on her tribe. She is trying to save herself by throwing shade at Terry however this could prompt the majority to split the votes to her if they think Terry has an idol which could hurt her. Kelley has some work to do and could be in trouble but she is fine for now.”

COLIN: “The only reason I rank her higher than Terry is because of her idol, which I’m sad to say she’ll probably have to play after throwing attention onto Terry. Why try to place suspicion on ANYONE when it comes to idols, especially when the vote is surely between the two of you? There’s no way Ta Keo don’t split the votes if they go to tribal, and Kelley will have her idol flushed out.”

JARROD: “While she’s in the minority on the new Ta Keo, we saw her bonding with Joe and the girls in an attempt to throw Terry under the bus. While floating the idea that Terry may have an idol could backfire, she always has the security of her own HII if she feels in danger.”

6th – Terry

TerryS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 15th (-11)
BEN RANK: 15th
NOAH RANK: 14th
COLIN RANK: 14th
JARROD RANK: 14th

BEN: “Terry is getting too much of a fall from grace edit. Each time he opens his mouth about how good a position he is in, he gets further and further down the totem pole. I hope he can pick himself back up to last weeks levels again.”

NOAH: “Dietz is not in a great position at all. He is one of only two former Ta Keo members against four Bayon’s in a season that seems semi set on tribal lines. Not only that but his one alliance member Kelley is calling him out in an attempt to save her own skin. Terry was just gaining momentum in the game and that could all go downhill but if one thing can be learned from this episode is that the game can shift with ease and perhaps Dietz can work something out with Joe or Keith to stay in the game.”

COLIN: “I have confidence that Terry can keep himself alive till the merge, but for now he’s in a minority with his only ally throwing him under the bus. Nobody seems to be flip flopping more on a week by week basis than poor Deitz.”

JARROD: “Terry will likely benefit from being on a strong tribe but should Ta Keo head to tribal council it looks like he’s on the chopping block. We didn’t really see him bonding with any of his new tribe members and it doesn’t look like Kelley is keen to stick with him to try to sway somebody over to their side.”

ANGKOR RANKINGS

1st – Tasha

TashaS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 3rd (+3)
BEN RANK: 7th
NOAH RANK: 2nd
COLIN RANK: 2nd
JARROD RANK: 4th

BEN: “Bit of airtime from Tasha and more importantly for me some gameplay by her which was great. She gels so well with Savage too. They just fit. So I would love to see them continuing to work together deep into the game.”

NOAH: “Tasha is an example of ex Bayon members getting more airtime now that things have been shaken up. She didn’t have a perfect week but we did get a bit more of an insight into her game. It could be argued that she was single handily responsible for Peih-Gee going home and ex Bayon members being safe after she called out Varner in the challenge. That has helped her gain the trust of Woo and Abi Maria along with the pre-existing Savage alliance. She may have made an enemy with Varner but this increase in edit along with her strong challenge performances bodes well for her survival in the immediate future. Although this is Angkor we are talking about here…”

COLIN: “What a week Tasha had. That was one of the more impressive performances I’ve seen in recent years of Survivor. She formed a bond with the right wild card player, threw out a very different idea by playing the card of the old Bayon numbers come a merge, and in a split second took Varner from puppet master to low man on the totem pole. She went from minority to majority leader. It was an episode worth admiring. The only reason I don’t rank her as #1 is because (like in Cagayan) she’s in control of a tribe that’s almost sure to lose all the way to the merge.”

JARROD: “While calling out Jeff at the challenge could have come back to bite her, it played to her favour and put her in a position of power. She isn’t fazed by the conditions or having to start again from square one, so provided she can keep a tight reign on Abi, she should be able to survive being on the weakest tribe for now.”

2nd – Savage

SavageS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 5th (-)
BEN RANK: 8th
NOAH RANK: 9th
COLIN RANK: 4th
JARROD RANK: 5th

BEN: “You have to feel for Savage. Again things seem to be going so well for him and what happens? A twist! You would think he would’ve learnt by now! But the vote turned out on his side unlike the last time he had to sit through a game changing twist. I’m liking the airtime he is getting too.”

NOAH: “This game is about adapting Savage! Why don’t you try and start smiling, it may make you happier? Savage went from being at the bottom of the new Angkor to being the decider of the vote in a short period of time. However this doesn’t mean he is in a great position. He is starting to piss people off with his negativity and his only tight alliance is with Tasha. His strength will help him and he could be safe for now but we have seen how dysfunctional this tribe is and anything could happen. Savage should be wary going forward.”

COLIN: “Savage and Tasha came in as a minority and somehow ended tribal in control of the game. I give a lot more credit to Tasha for this, but Savage deserves a high ranking based on his position in his tribe and the game. The sad truth is Savage went back into Pearl Islands mode of voicing his frustrations too openly. As long as Tasha can keep a lid on his outbursts, Savage’s positive social skills will come in very handy down the road.”

JARROD: “While Savage looked to be the initial target of Angkor before the challenge, he currently sits in the drivers seat alongside Tasha and his stock increases a whole lot simply by being on a physically weaker tribe. It’ll be interesting to see if he has the patience to reassure Abi long term or if that task will fall solely to Tasha.”

3rd – Abi-Maria

AbiMariaS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 14th (-)
BEN RANK: 16th
NOAH RANK: 16th
COLIN RANK: 10th
JARROD RANK: 12th

BEN: “My pony survives again! But she is still on borrowed time. Has to keep on working her way up and hope for a miracle.”

NOAH: “Abi won’t win this season but like her original season she seems to always find her way into an alliance. Abi is being used by a range of players and could be dragged along as a goat. Equally if Varner works her magic she could be in serious trouble next time Angkor go to tribal council, especially as she isn’t strong in challenges.”

COLIN: “She is playing a disastrous game when it comes to long term, but short term there is something about Abi Maria’s erratic AND emotionally driven strategy that is working. She’s in a powerful position on a weak tribe. That’s enough for now.”

JARROD: “While Abi could be a crucial swing vote between Tasha/Savage and Woo/Varner it’s unlikely she’ll play her cards that well and the target could easily switch back to herself. Needs to prove her loyalty to Savage and Tasha over the coming episodes and combat her reputation as an impulsive player.”

4th – Varner

VarnerS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 16th (-15)
BEN RANK: 14th
NOAH RANK: 15th
COLIN RANK: 16th
JARROD RANK: 16th

BEN: “Wow. What a big fall from grace from Varner. We knew his mouth could get him into trouble but wow. What did he even say to Wiglesworth? That is the question. I still think he can win this game but after this week he has to take a big tumble down the list.”

NOAH: “What a week can do for the power rankings. Varner is in a bad position and it could get a lot worse for him if his tribe loses again. He made a huge blunder by trying to communicate to Wiglesworth. This would have been no drama had Tasha not danced in front of him. Not only did he get called out in front of the entire cast but now Woo doesn’t trust him, Savage and Tasha are sceptical of him and he lost an alliance member in Peih-Gee. Varner can turn this around but it is going to be difficult and he has put himself in a sticky situation for the rest of the time he is around.”

COLIN: “I have no doubt that Varner can pull himself out of the hole that he’s in, but his one mistake this week lands him in a very deservingly low spot.”

JARROD: “What a week for Varner as he plummets from a position of power to scrambling to stay in the game. Varner is definitely the most expendable on the Angkor tribe but there’s no way he’ll go down without a fight. He may be able to restore some goodwill with Abi, throw Woo under the bus or scramble to find an idol clue in the next episode. The trend has been that people who overplay get taken out though so it doesn’t look good for Varner.”

5th – Woo

WooS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb

OVERALL: 17th (-6)
BEN RANK: 17th
NOAH RANK: 17th
COLIN RANK: 17th
JARROD RANK: 17th

BEN: “Woo finally learnt how to play Survivor last week…………….aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannd it’s gone. Welcome back to 2014 my friend.”

NOAH: “They highlighted Abi calling out Woo for voting for her twice in three tribal councils even when he is supposed to be in her alliance. Woo is on the outs and is so easily swayed like his Cagayan self. His strength could help him stick around through a few votes but he is on thin ice. Woo won’t win this season.”

COLIN: “How is it Woo is still out of the loop?”

JARROD: “While Woo is probably a more logical choice to keep around should Angkor head to tribal council, it’s clear that Abi is offended that he’s voted for her twice now and she’s likely going to pursue a personal vendetta against him. I feel Woo’s fate is out of his hands right now and it just depends on how much people are willing to placate Abi right now.”

4 Comments on Survivor Cambodia Power Rankings–Week 3

  1. About the Terry and Kelley ordeal, wont Kelley vote Terry at the first tribal meaning if they split the votes chances are it will be 3-2, meaning since Terry has no idol he will be out.

    • Unless Terry votes for Kelley at the same time, which he should. Kelley is smart enough to play her idol regardless, meaning she could end up inadvertently flushing her own idol out.

Not since Lill have we seen a bigger goat than Abi-Maria. She is like a Judas sheep leading those who align with her to slaughter. Russell Hantz would skunk her at FTC. The next episode will show if Varner is a Tony “top 5 baby!” Valachos who wins or Jonathan “munity” Penner who flounders. I’m thinking the later since he can’t even convince his alliance to take out Savage or Tasha when he has the numbers. The longer Abi stays in the game the better chance we have of seeing our first Survivor murder. I’m loving this season.

  3. Oh my god, Varner grew a moustache
