Survivor Cambodia Power Rankings–Week 5

PowerRankingsCambodia_thumb1_thumb_t[1]

For the 31st season of Cambodia we will be once again bringing you our weekly POWER RANKINGS as Ben & Noah are joined by Ozlets Colin & Jarrod to rank the contestants each week based on performance and strategy and where they are perceived to be in the game! We continue our rankings for another week with our episode 5 rankings, which we are sure will cause speculation and debate as we get closer to next weeks episode!

HOW THE RANKINGS ARE CALCULATED

Each week Ben, Noah, Colin & Jarrod will rank the remaining contestants based on their opinion of where they stand in the game, with the four totals being tallied to produce a total score . The lowest total score will be ranked at the top, with the second lowest in second, third lowest in third and so on and so forth. Each week the overall list will be published, separated into two tribes. It will combine into one list once the tribes merge (or two/three should there be a tribe dissolve).

LEADERBOARD

Once again during Cambodia we will be scoring who gets the closest each week with the POWER RANKINGS LEADERBOARD! The ranker who gets their ranking for the previous weeks eliminated contestant will score a point. If they predict the exact finishing position then they will score 2 points. If there are two or more rankers on the same prediction/number, they will both get the said points amount. Here is the leaderboard after this weeks episode:

POS RANKER SCORE
1st Noah Groves 3 (+1)
2nd Colin Hilding 2
= Jarrod Loobeek 2 (+1)
4th Ben Waterworth

BAYON RANKINGS

1st – Jeremy

JeremyS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_t

OVERALL: 1st (-)
BEN RANK: 1st
NOAH RANK: 1st
COLIN RANK: 2nd
JARROD RANK: 1st

BEN: “First time his ‘powers’ have been put to use and he was in complete control of any situation that was presented to him. Am impressed with his ability to be likeable and also in the hunt for any decision. Has an idol too, in the box seat approaching the half way mark.”

NOAH: “Jeremy is on top of his alliance and he has an idol that nobody knows about. He has Stephen as a close number two and has a strong alliance with the ex Bayon members. On top of that he appears to have formed a strong bond with Spencer as an extra option. I am hesitant to keep Jeremy up the top based on how San Juan Del Sur turned out but for now Jeremy is in a great position.”

COLIN: “It really is a game between Jeremy and Tasha. Week after week that seems to be the case. The most fascinating idea that continues to be thrown out that the original Bayon could reform at the merge. Jeremy and his alliance did vote out Monica, one of their originals this week, but by not bringing in others for the blindside they technically stayed loyal as Bayon. My only reason for not ranking Jeremy at the top is that they did take a chance that former Bayon members could be turned off by not knowing the whole circumstances around Monica’s boot.”

JARROD: “I find it hard to shift Jeremy from this spot. Is solid with Kimmi and Stephen and shouldn’t have any dramas reeling Spencer back in after he was out of the loop last tribal. Has an idol as well so barring an unforeseen catastrophe he should be safe for a while still.”

2nd – Stephen

StephenS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_

OVERALL: 5th (-1)
BEN RANK: 3rd
NOAH RANK: 3rd
COLIN RANK: 10th
JARROD RANK: 7th

BEN: “How has this turn around happened? A bumbling edit one week through to another shot at being the ‘right hand man’. He looks to be attempting big moves next week, so let’s just keep an eye on him as perhaps he has just had one of the slowest starting games of all time that is about to turn into something massive.”

NOAH: “Wow the tribe addition has helped Fishbach’s game so much. He went from having a tough time to being one of the main decision makers in his tribe. Despite that he is still number two to Jeremy and he doesn’t know of Jeremy’s idol. Stephen should be good through to the merge but will his goofy episode one and two edit come back to haunt him? Oh and points have to be taken off for accidently helping Angkor in the challenge!”

COLIN: “He made a huge mistake in the challenge, which didn’t cost him this week, but he’s definitely being shown as a weak member of the tribe. It would be easy to rank him higher based on Jeremy’s loose alliance with him, but we haven’t seen anyone else speak of Stephen as being pivotal to their game. Jeremy isn’t one to control his tribe, so if Stephen is still rubbing people the wrong way Jeremy will very quickly step aside.”

JARROD: “While Stephen’s early ineptitude may very well be foreshadowing a medevac next episode, it looks like a redemption story is gradually forming around him. Despite hilariously scoring a point for Angkor in the challenge he’s being shown as endearing and is Jeremy’s right hand man for the moment.”

3rd – Kimmi

KimmiS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_th

OVERALL: 6th (+7)
BEN RANK: 4th
NOAH RANK: 7th
COLIN RANK: 7th
JARROD RANK: 6th

BEN: “I’m overjoyed to put Kimmi this high up. So happy. She has found herself in a nice little alliance now that should take her to the merge minimum and then some more. Who is honestly going to target Kimmi in a merge? She is no real challenge threat and seems to be loyal to those who she is in tight with. And I can see people easily going after Jeremy and Stephen before her if the Bayon alliance is targeted. Keep up the Kimmi airtime, that’s all I can say!”

NOAH: “It was amazing and awesome to see some strategy and gameplay from Kimmi! Although I am hesitant to put her up higher for a variety of reasons. Firstly her edit hasn’t been amazing and based on that and her general game I don’t think she can win. She had a good week and is in an alliance that could go long term but will she be a huge factor in the game? Secondly she voted out someone who was loyal in Monica? If she persuaded Monica to vote Wiglesworth this time she still has three alliance members going forward instead of the two she has now. What if a tribe swap came and she needed another alliance member? In saying that Monica was wishy washy and showed she was a bit shifty so perhaps it was the best possible move. Either way it is fantastic seeing Kimmi play the game!”

COLIN: “She spoke! Not only did she speak but she seemed to dominate the entire episode! We now know that Kimmi is in a solid place within Bayon, and that she’s persuasive enough to control the vote this week. I think her move was a little bit rash and could have waited one or two more weeks. It’s unfortunate because Kimmi is clearly a good enough debater to get people on board with her, but she may be lacking the patience to go to the end of the game. Monica was the opposite, with little persuasion but a lot of patience. They could have made a good team.”

JARROD: “While I’m not totally convinced getting rid of Monica was the best move for Kimmi, relaying the all girls alliance talk to Jeremy and Stephen should strengthen the bonds and trust between the three of them. With Monica gone she’s clearly the weakest on the tribe but a merge or switch must be approaching fairly soon so tribe strength is probably less of a concern than a vote or two ago. Plus we got another confessional where she talks about wanting to making it to the end, so that definitely feels like a good sign.”

4th – Spencer

SpencerS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_

OVERALL: 11th (-1)
BEN RANK: 12th
NOAH RANK: 11th
COLIN RANK: 11th
JARROD RANK: 10th

BEN: ”He survived and is there and is always getting airtime about being an underdog which is showing that surely he is going far and potentially winning the game. But could it also mean he is being setup for a blindside? I think that might be the case more so than the former, but I’m not writing him off entirely.”

NOAH: “Spencer has been trying to form real bonds with people and not to treat people like chess pieces. He has done a pretty good job of it by securing himself for tonight’s tribal and finding himself in a four person alliance. However if Bayon continue to lose then after Wiglesworth Spencer could find himself in a lot of trouble. He is number four in a four person alliance.”

COLIN: “The editing would have us believe that Spencer is turning into a solid member of the Bayon alliance, but they were suspicious of him before and it’s not that easy to turn around suspicion. There was also a lot of talk about the old Bayon alliance again, and Spencer as a number becomes irrelevant if that happens.”

JARROD: “We keep being shown so many personal growth scenes with Spencer that it feels inevitable that he’ll be around for a fair bit longer. Based on how the discussions went last episode, it seems Kelly is the target should Bayon lose again.”

5th – Kelly

KellyS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_th

OVERALL: 13th (+2)
BEN RANK: 13th
NOAH RANK: 14th
COLIN RANK: 12th
JARROD RANK: 15th

BEN: “Even in an episode where she is a potential target to be eliminated we don’t hear from her!!! This is so frustrating. Yes, it was kinda obvious she wouldn’t get much airtime leading into this season but it’s painful to be teased in the first few episodes and then have her completely taken away. GIVE ME MY WIGLESWORTH! But all of that side, she is in big big trouble. If Bayon lose again before the merge I honestly think she is gone, which makes me very sad. So let’s just hope Bayon keeps winning. Which will make me very happy.”

NOAH: “Wiglesworth caught a lucky break tonight but she is in trouble if Bayon go to tribal again. Spencer has appeared to make better connections with the Bayon tribe and Wiglesworth is the clear number five of this group. If Bayon keep winning then she could become tighter with the group but as of now she is next to go for Bayon.”

COLIN: “I felt compelled to put Kelly at the very bottom, as she’s still on the outside of the Bayon alliances, and doesn’t even seem to be making an effort to pull anything together. At the same time Bayon are clearly going to target the threats. Not your typical physical threats, but those who threaten to upset their loyalty. Kelly is in no way threatening as a strategist. Sadly for her she’s a clear choice to vote out if nobody else stirs things up.”

JARROD: “It would seem she’s well liked but everybody is scared of the bonds she made on original Ta Keo (given Bayon’s numbers superiority I don’t know why). Despite her not being the most interesting character I still feel she delivers ok confessionals and she really should have got to say something this past episode (her unaired confessional from this weeks episode could have been tied in easily to the story). If Bayon lose, she’s gone.”

TA KEO RANKINGS

1st – Kelley

KelleyS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_t

OVERALL: 3rd (+2)
BEN RANK: 2nd
NOAH RANK: 5th
COLIN RANK: 5th
JARROD RANK: 3rd

BEN: “Her tribe is yet to face the music and she is in no danger at all. A new Ta Kao five is in place which could become dominant if their numbers stay the same at a merge. She has an idol and nobody perceives her as a threat so she is going very deep in this game.”

NOAH: “Kelley has worked her way into the five person alliance and has officially jammed Dietz under the bus. The only reason I put her ahead of the other four is because she had received a confessional every single episode and the editors are always highlighting her. Not to forget she also has an idol that no one knows about.”

COLIN: “I give Kelley a big bump this week. She has obviously succeeded in making her way into the core alliance of Ta Keo (or she’s simply 2nd from the bottom) but she’s still in it. I wouldn’t have ranked her nearly as high if she didn’t still have the idol.”

JARROD: “Has ingratiated herself with new Ta Keo more and more each week to the point where she’s been included in a final 5 deal. She’s smart enough to stick with that alliance only for as long as it suits her. Did a great job in the barrel during the reward challenge and is consistently getting screen time.”

2nd – Ciera

CieraS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_th

OVERALL: 7th (+2)
BEN RANK: 8th
NOAH RANK: 8th
COLIN RANK: 3rd
JARROD RANK: 5th

BEN: “We got some more of Ciera this episode which I will take as putting her above Kass at least this week. Still not sold on her as a player but if the Ta Kao alliance goes deep and into control she’ll be in a good spot to go far.”

NOAH: “Haven’t seen a whole lot of Ciera this season but she is in a tight five person alliance and I don’t really see a scenario where she is voted out before the merge. Ciera could still win but her chances are diminishing as the weeks go on based off her edit.”

COLIN: “Finally we have confirmation that Ciera is playing the game, and in a decent position in her tribe. As a huge Ciera fan I may still be a little biased in my ranking of her, but I struggle to find anyone else who has been shown in a positive light in terms of their game with no negatives shown along with it.”

JARROD: “Was shown to be the one pushing the final 5 deal on Ta Keo and looks to be getting along well with everyone in that bunch. Monica leaving is probably of benefit to her also as they may have been viewed as a pair due to the Laura connection.”

3rd – Joe

JoeS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_thum

OVERALL: 8th (-2)
BEN RANK: 5th
NOAH RANK: 6th
COLIN RANK: 6th
JARROD RANK: 11th

BEN: “He is still out there ladies, calm down. The man bun will be seen again. Because he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.”

NOAH: “He is in the five person alliance and people still see him as Joey amazing. I think from here he can easily make the merge but once he gets there it could be trouble thanks to him excelling in individual immunity challenges.”

COLIN: “I have probably said it almost every week, but I still give Joe less than a 25% chance to make it to the merge. Based on his game thus far and this week’s Ta Keo 5 scene I think Joe is one of the stronger players at the moment. Ciera is probably the only one within that alliance that can go to the end.”

JARROD: “Took less of a commanding role in the challenges this week but it’s definitely approaching the time of the game where physical threats are going to be targeted. Looks to be solid within the Ta Keo 5 but he did bring up concerns about being targeted just like in Worlds Apart which could be foreshadowing a similar exit.”

4th – Kass

KassS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_thu

OVERALL: 9th (-2)
BEN RANK: 9th
NOAH RANK: 9th
COLIN RANK: 8th
JARROD RANK: 9th

BEN: “Still there, still being nice and still with a shot to provide one of the biggest turn arounds in the history of the show. Are we just not all sitting back each week going “this is the week Chaos Kass returns” and we just never get it?”

NOAH: “Kass is in the five person alliance and we have seen signs of her changing as a player but I still don’t fully buy it. Kass could have bought herself a ticket to the merge but I am doubtful she can win in the end.”

COLIN: “Everything with Ta Keo is speculation, because outside of one scene with them declaring they could be the final 5 we have nothing to analyse with them. Every scene Kass has been included in has been about her being a changed person in the game, but I still maintain that the majority of players out there will be too suspicious of her to let her go far into the game.”

JARROD: “Kass continues to sit pretty among the Ta Keo bunch and we saw her strategic astuteness when she mentioned keeping Terry close despite him not being included in the alliance of 5. Slides down the rankings a little simply based on the potential of a medevac next week and the uncertainty that may bring.”

5th – Keith

KeithS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_th

OVERALL: 10th (+1)
BEN RANK: 10th
NOAH RANK: 10th
COLIN RANK: 9th
JARROD RANK: 8th

BEN: “KEITH AIRTIME! YAY! KEITH IN AN ALLIANCE! YAY! Let’s just keep that going each week and Ben will be a happy boy.”

NOAH: “Keith won the reward challenge for the tribe and has found himself in a newly formed five person alliance. This alliance could help Keith go far and he certainly isn’t on anyone’s radar but I do feel like Keith is number five in the alliance. Keith is in a decent position but based purely off edit and gameplay I don’t think he can win the game. I am super excited we are seeing more of him now though!”

COLIN: “This week we saw the formation of the Ta Keo 5 alliance, but with so little screen time given to them it’s hard to determine if it is solid enough to go the distance. He’s not on the bottom, but he’s definitely not on the top. Maybe there’s a potential sub alliance out there for Keith.”

JARROD: “I’m so glad we saw more from Keith this week, bringing home victory for Ta Keo in both the challenges. Add to that Keith’s inclusion in the Ta Keo 5 alliance and his confessional about strategy and I’ve got high hopes he can luck his way deep once again.”

6th – Terry

TerryS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_th

OVERALL: 14th (-2)
BEN RANK: 14th
NOAH RANK: 12th
COLIN RANK: 15th
JARROD RANK: 13th

BEN: “Oh Mr Deitz. So sad to see the edit you’re getting because it is really setting you up for one big blindside. It’s a shame because there didn’t really seem to be too much publicity on him coming into this season given how many times he nearly made the cut for a second chance. But I guess we’ll just watch this space and see if he can turn it around.”

NOAH: “The tribe swap was the worst thing to happen to Dietz and that nightmare still hasn’t calmed down. Two weeks ago Kelley wanted to kick him under a bus and now a new five person as formed and he isn’t a part of it. Luckily for Dietz, Ta Keo is by far the strongest tribe and may not even have to go to tribal before the merge. He still has hope.”

COLIN: “Terry’s days could be numbered. He has no part of his tribe’s alliance. His only hope is to remain strong enough in the challenges to keep them from going to tribal. That or possibly a tribe switch. Or he survives to the merge and has a whole bunch of new open doors. I’m actually quite optimistic about his chances to stay in the game, but based on this week he’s not looking very secure.”

JARROD: “We still haven’t seen any glimpse of Terry trying to form bonds on new Ta Keo and this week that was highlighted by the final 5 deal he was excluded from while he was out fishing. Lucky to be on the strongest tribe that could steam roll their way to the next phase of the game.”

ANGKOR RANKINGS

1st – Tasha

TashaS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_th

OVERALL: 2nd (-)
BEN RANK: 6th
NOAH RANK: 2nd
COLIN RANK: 1st
JARROD RANK: 2nd

BEN: “A rarity. Hardly any Angkor time. So that means nothing changes on the Tasha front. Although she is still getting the “I’m still here look at how well my game is going” confessionals along the way to show she is still relevant to the season.”

NOAH: “Not too much different for Tasha compared to the last two weeks. We are still seeing a fair bit from her and she is still in control of the tribe. Her position may eventually change but for now she is in a great spot at least until the merge.”

COLIN: “She made a brilliant move in bringing in Abi, and keeping her last week over Varner (as sad as it made me to see him go) and now we know that Tasha is already considering Abi a liability. Based on the edit we’ve seen I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tasha make it to the end and argue a great case to win. Considering it’s only 1/3 through the game and she already has that many points in her favor, I’m fully comfortable putting her at the top again..”

JARROD: “She’s everybody’s go to girl on Angkor and right now she’s doing a great job dealing with Abi. Looks to have Savage wrapped around her finger and is keeping her options open about keeping Woo around.”

2nd – Savage

SavageS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_t

OVERALL: 4th (-1)
BEN RANK: 7th
NOAH RANK: 4th
COLIN RANK: 4th
JARROD RANK: 4th

BEN: “See what I wrote for Tasha. Still there and still not going anywhere.”

NOAH: “We didn’t really see much of Savage at all in this episode but we can only assume he is still in a tight twosome with Tasha and that he will be sticking around at Angkor until a merge, tribe swap or when there are only two people left on the tribe.”

COLIN: “I’ve ranked Savage in my top 4 for the last 3 weeks, and I still feel it’s a fair position based on his game. I can’t see him moving into the position as a contender to win the game as the game is clearly more in Tasha’s hands. But if things stay as they are Savage not only makes the merge but potentially goes all the way to the finale. Even if the game isn’t in his control he’s in a good spot, and could make a case for himself in the finale, as long as he’s not against Tasha.”

JARROD: “Alongside Tasha he rules the roost over on Angkor. Doesn’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon.”

3rd – Woo

WooS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb_thum

OVERALL: 12th (+4)
BEN RANK: 15th
NOAH RANK: 13th
COLIN RANK: 13th
JARROD RANK: 12th

BEN: “Woo gave the audience a bit of a cry this week. That was sweet. But Woo still isn’t going to be in this game for much longer.”

NOAH: “Woo seems to be making better bonds with Tasha and Savage than Abi is. On top of that he is much stronger in challenges. Woo hasn’t played a great game so far and is on the bottom but if Angkor go to tribal once again he could survive over Abi.”

COLIN: “I feel he is in a very good position with Angkor, but the fact still remains that they are frequent losers in the challenges, and the Tasha/Savage bond won’t be split. Those two may see value in Woo for now, but if the merge comes and old Bayon regroups then Woo’s stock goes down again.”

JARROD: “It feels like Woo’s stock has increased over the course of one episode. We saw his outpouring of emotion regarding his mother’s heart transplant and that really seemed to resonate with the tribe. He got painted in a positive light by Tasha as somebody who could be trusted going into tribal councils and was a real help to the tribe in both the challenges. If Angkor’s struggles return, he could very well be seen as indispensable should they lose again.”

4th – Abi-Maria

AbiMariaS31_thumb1_thumb_thumb_thumb[1]

OVERALL: 15th (-)
BEN RANK: 11th
NOAH RANK: 15th
COLIN RANK: 14th
JARROD RANK: 14th

BEN: “Constantly shown as being annoying which yes, sums her up as a boot sooner rather than later but also sums her up as a perfect goat to take to the end. I’m sniffing some money if this is the case.”

NOAH: “Abi is supposedly in the majority but even after Peih-Gee and Varner have gone she is still annoying everyone on her tribe. Tasha is considering getting rid of her and if Angkor go to tribal council again, which I suspect they will before the merge, Abi could well go home over Woo.”

COLIN: “Last week I said that Woo would make a better ally for Tasha and Savage to bring into the merge, and Tasha’s comments this week seem to be backing up my prediction. Tasha will not want to bring Abi into a merge. If Abi takes one thing personally she will find someone else to side with, and there will be too many people on the other side of the merge for her to flip too.”

JARROD: “We continue to see Abi getting on the nerves of her tribemates and one gets the feeling that it can only last so long before she’s taken out. We started to get some hints about Tasha potentially cutting her loose due to her unpredictability and that could very well be foreshadowing a break up of that alliance. It’s really impossible to predict what Abi will do week to week.”
