For the 32nd season of Kaoh Rong we will be once again bringing you our weekly POWER RANKINGS as Noah is joined by Ozlets Colin, Ivan & Jarrod to rank the contestants each week based on performance and strategy and where they are perceived to be in the game! We continue our rankings for another week with our episode 3 rankings, which we are sure will cause speculation and debate as we get closer to next weeks episode!
HOW THE RANKINGS ARE CALCULATED
Each week Noah, Colin, Ivan & Jarrod will rank the remaining contestants based on their opinion of where they stand in the game, with the four totals being tallied to produce a total score. The lowest total score will be ranked at the top, with the second lowest in second, third lowest in third and so on and so forth. Each week the overall list will be published, separated into three tribes. It will combine into one list once the tribes merge (or two should there be a tribe dissolve).
Once again during Kaoh Rong we will be scoring who gets the closest each week with the POWER RANKINGS LEADERBOARD! The ranker who gets closest in predicting the previous weeks eliminated contestant will score a point. If they predict the exact finishing position then they will score 2 points. If there are two or more rankers on the same prediction/number, they will both get the said points amount. Here is the leaderboard after this weeks episode:
|1st||Colin Hilding||1 (+1)|
|=||Jarrod Loobeek||1 (+1)|
CHAN LOH (BRAINS) RANKINGS
1st – Debbie
OVERALL: 4th (+10)
NOAH RANK: 1st
COLIN RANK: 3rd
IVAN RANK: 4th
JARROD RANK: 10th
NOAH: I was hesitant to put Debbie at number one because it is such a jump from last week but she truly deserves it. Debbie has proven she can transcend being just a kook and is a potential strategic threat in the game. She perfectly played off her innocence with Peter and Liz while she gathered her number two Joe and other two troops in Neal and Aubry. She is in control of her alliance but as she noted, no one suspects her and she is hiding in the shadows. Debbie may have a tough time winning but with other threats on the tribe and in the game, Debbie could seriously prove any doubters wrong. Let’s hope she keeps this up!
COLIN: This will be an echo of what was said about Peter. How foolish we all were to rank her so low. What a turnaround Debbie had in just one week. This is a great example of how the quirks of a character can blind you to the potential someone has as a strategist. I’m still shocked as I write this. Debbie could be a potential finalist if this week is any indication of her potential.
IVAN: The first two episodes she seemed like the first boot from her tribe but she orchestrated Liz’s demise. She played it almost perfectly and is now in a good position but I can’t help but think she might suffer a power trip of her own.
JARROD: From what we saw Debbie went to work this past episode and was instrumental in switching the target from Neal to Liz. It’s hard to say how she’ll fair when she has to interact with the other tribes but things seem to be looking up for her on the Brains tribe.
=2nd – Aubry
OVERALL: =9th (+2)
NOAH RANK: 10th
COLIN RANK: 12th
IVAN RANK: 3rd
JARROD RANK: 7th
NOAH: Aubry is currently in the majority of Brains and was also a part of the old majority alliance too. This is a good thing but Aubry has had one of the most minimal edits so far and we know barely anything about her. She isn’t being set up as a particularly important character. Aubry will probably be screwed over by a tribe swap, become a medivac or be a quite merge boot.
COLIN: She’s in a majority alliance right now, which helps, but she was technically in Peter’s majority alliance last week, and we know how that turned out. Sadly I’m not seeing Aubry as anything more than a pawn. She went from a pawn of Peter to a pawn of Debbie.
IVAN: After a slow start she’s doing well in all aspects of the game. She did receive 2 votes but the plan was never to actually target her. I could see her going far in this game because I think people will continue to underestimate her.
JARROD: We still didn’t get a whole heap from Aubry this episode but she was the voice of reason at tribal council and we’ve seen snippets of her getting along with everybody on the Brain tribe. She’s sitting in a good position right now.
=2nd – Neal
OVERALL: =9th (-3)
NOAH RANK: 5th
COLIN RANK: 11th
IVAN RANK: 5th
JARROD RANK: 11th
NOAH: Neal was targeted this week but he came out on the other end in a good position. Outside of Debbie he has received the most airtime out of the four person alliance and is being set up as a strategist. He may now have a rivalry with Peter which could come back to hurt him but Neal is most likely to make it to the merge/swap at this point.
COLIN: While we still aren’t seeing a lot in terms of personality from him, something this week made me think he could go far in the game. Just a hunch, but I think he’s intentionally holding back right now to not appear as too big of a target. He’s in a solid alliance now, and in the event that Debbie goes completely and totally nuts he would be the guy to step up and hold the Brains together.
IVAN: It didn’t take long for people to catch on that he is a smart guy. He survived this time and has a solid group but I feel like he could be targeted again soon, especially if he’s on a swapped tribe with Peter.
JARROD: If Peter is able to split up the pairs I could see Neal being his target once again. That being said, all the talk about Neal being a threat could be foreshadowing him going deep in the game and masterminding many a move.
4th – Joe
OVERALL: 12th (+3)
NOAH RANK: 8th
COLIN RANK: 9th
IVAN RANK: 11th
JARROD RANK: 12th
NOAH: Joe is in the majority alliance and is Debbie’s number two. He is in a good position for the moment but he is being painted as a non-strategist and a grumpy military like guy. Some have speculated that he will be the medivac based on his age but so far he seems to be doing fine physically.
COLIN: Being on Debbie’s good side is paying off. Having said that, his invisibility on screen makes it hard to rank him.
IVAN: Whenever we did see him he’s given us good moments but we need to see more of him. Maybe he’s disappointing me because I want him to be Rudyesque so bad. But he should be here for a while longer, just not a strong winner candidate.
JARROD: Joe’s in a much better position with Liz out of the game but Debbie was shown to be the more proactive player forming relationships in this weeks episode.
5th – Peter
OVERALL: =13th (-12)
NOAH RANK: 13th
COLIN RANK: 14th
IVAN RANK: 14th
JARROD RANK: 15th
NOAH: Poor Dr Peter, what a fall from grace. He showed so much potential last week which has now fallen flat. However while he may be down, he is certainly isn’t out. His strength is an asset and if after the medivac we have a swap then Peter could recover. If Brains do go to tribal again though he will probably be the next one out.
COLIN: Well aren’t we all fools for ranking Peter so high last week. Maybe this week’s ranking will help us regain some credibility.
IVAN: He dropped pretty hard in the potential winner rankings with that episode. Just so cocky and arrogant. His best chance is to hope for a swap and try not to screw up those relationships.
JARROD: From the top of the heap to the bottom of the pile. Peter’s cockiness cost him big time and he now sits on the outs of the Brain tribe. He’ll be hoping for a swap or immunity to save him because I doubt the pairs are going to split up unless he is able to dramatically alter his abrasive personality.
TO TANG (BRAWN) RANKINGS
1st – Cydney
OVERALL: =1st (+7)
NOAH RANK: 3rd
COLIN RANK: 2nd
IVAN RANK: 7th
JARROD RANK: 3rd
NOAH: Cydney is really starting to impress me. She didn’t get the idol but she did manage to deflect any suspicion on to herself by telling Jason and Scot about the clue, separating herself from Alecia. Although she still has Alecia on her side if she chooses to use her. Cydney has been a bit quite this season which is slightly worrying but if she keeps up like this week she could be one to watch out for.
COLIN: This is a rare time where someone does not find an idol and they come out stronger than the person who did have it. Watching her work the idol search between Alecia, Scot and Jason was one of my favourite player moves in the last several years. What makes her all the more impressive is how trusting Scot and Jason are of her playing both sides. Jenny was dumped for suggesting an all female alliance while Cydney is 100% trusted for “pretending” to work with Alecia. She has winner potential written all over her
IVAN: Good news for her is Brawn won’t repeat as Matsing otherwise she would definitely be fourth boot. Being the third wheel of an alliance of three isn’t that bad if this is the final 4. But it’s the final 15, there’s still a lot of game left. I hope she can find her way in a stronger position post swap or merge.
JARROD: Cydney is good with everybody on the Brawn tribe right now. She cemented her trust with the guys by telling them about the idol clue and has done some solid work in building a bond with Alecia.
2nd – Jason
OVERALL: 3rd (+1)
NOAH RANK: 4th
COLIN RANK: 10th
IVAN RANK: 1st
JARROD RANK: 1st
NOAH: Jason is tight with Scot and was successful in getting the idol. He is in control of the Brawn tribe but if it comes to a tribe swap he could have a potentially huge target on his back, especially as the other three Brawns know about his idol. At this rate he is looking good to make the merge but will have to fight from there.
COLIN: That idol came just at the right time, as Jason continues to push Alecia further and further away as a tribe swap is almost certainly around the corner. Without the idol he was dead in the water. Now with the idol I would consider him just treading water. He’d better hope he doesn’t get swapped with Alecia.
IVAN: He found the idol so he has Alecia cornered if they lose again. But what could happen if Alecia makes a swap could be detrimental to his game. The whole tribe knows he has an idol. I’m sure that won’t be a secret to the other tribes soon enough.
JARROD: While he’s not being shown in the most flattering light, he’s the leader of the Brawn tribe with an idol in his pocket.
3rd – Scot
OVERALL: 5th (-3)
NOAH RANK: 2nd
COLIN RANK: 7th
IVAN RANK: 2nd
JARROD RANK: 8th
NOAH: Scot has been playing a strong game. He has deflected most attention away from him being an NBA player and he seems to be level headed which is unique for the professional athletes on the show. He is in tight with Jason who he could potentially share the idol with down the track. Scot and Cydney are the only ones on Brawn who haven’t been targeted yet (besides one off hand Alecia comment) and is probably good to a tribe swap/merge.
COLIN: Why did he feel the need to vote separately from his alliance because of a promise he made to Jenny? By doing so he risks looking disloyal to Jason and Cydney and forces Alecia to get defensive. Cydney has clearly taken control of their alliance, and while Scot hasn’t slipped to Jason’s level of stupidity when it comes to the social game, he also doesn’t have the idol to protect him.
IVAN: Though Alecia isn’t happy with him right now, I don’t see Jason or Cydney turning on him. He’s played pretty well so far, making it further than the last professional athlete to play Jon Rocker. I could see him getting far as long as he doesn’t play too hard as he’s teetering along that line.
JARROD: Scot sits alongside Jason at the top of the Brawn bunch but Alecia is clearly going to hold a grudge against him for that vote at tribal council. If I were Scot, I’d be sleeping with one eye open from here on out.
4th – Alecia
OVERALL: =13th (+3)
NOAH RANK: 15th
COLIN RANK: 13th
IVAN RANK: 15th
JARROD RANK: 13th
NOAH: Alecia to me is still in a terrible position. Granted if she can make the swap then she has potential to go very far. If Brawn ever have to go to tribal council then she is guaranteed to go home. She made a big blunder by first thinking she can trust Cydney and then secondly telling her about the idol. Ultimately this blunder lead to Jason now in possession of the idol. Alecia’s one power, should she choose to use it, is that she has the knowledge that Jason has the idol.
COLIN: This week Alecia was shocked that Scot would break her trust…… yet they were never aligned at any point in the game. She’s absolutely hilarious as a character and absolutely hideous as a strategic player. It was painful to watch her lose the idol so quickly after finding the clue.
IVAN: Even if Alecia makes it to the end of this game, I have a feeling she’ll be at the bottom of the power rankings the whole way. Even though she survived twice, you don’t think she can possibly survive again. But who knows.
JARROD: By all accounts Alecia is still on the bottom of the Brawn tribe but it feels like she may be being set up to flip on them come a swap or merge. I doubt her luck holds out should Brawn lose the next challenge.
GONDOL (BEAUTY) RANKINGS
1st – Anna
OVERALL: =1st (+2)
NOAH RANK: 6th
COLIN RANK: 1st
IVAN RANK: 6th
JARROD RANK: 2nd
NOAH: Anna makes a return after an invisible week in episode two. She is once again being shown as one of the major strategists of the season and in recruiting Caleb into the women’s alliance. Anna is still relatively quiet though but I suspect that will change if/when she goes to tribal council.
COLIN: Finally someone plants the seed of an endgame on the Beauty tribe. She presented her all girls alliance in a confident way to Caleb, which all but forced him into joining them, She could be a dangerous strategic and social player if the wins keep coming and she hits the merge with numbers.
IVAN: She seems to be the brains behind this all girl alliance operation, and she’s a capable player but we haven’t seen too much from this tribe three episodes in to make much more precise assessments strategically.
JARROD: Anna is back on the scene after last weeks’ lull. She reinforced the Beauty females sticking together and brought in Caleb as part of the dominant group.
2nd – Tai
OVERALL: 6th (+4)
NOAH RANK: 7th
COLIN RANK: 4th
IVAN RANK: 10th
JARROD RANK: 6th
NOAH: Tai has finally found the idol and unlike Jason, no one knows about it. On top of that he is slowly working his way into the good graces of the tribe and Nick has now become a big target. Couple all of this with his massive edit and Tai could be good until the merge at this point. Not an ideal current position but not horrible.
COLIN: Beauty has yet to lose, so I honestly have no idea where Tai sits in his tribe. He has the idol which boosts him a bit, but I’m just dying to see these people go to tribal.
IVAN: He repaired some strained relationships and has a hidden immunity idol. He’s living up to his Yau Man comparisons, and he’s certainly getting a large edit, he still has to work on his social game and find an alliance that could get him long term because right now he’s looking at 4th-6th place territory.
JARROD: Could we be losing Tai to a medevac? I sure hope not! It looks like he’s being brought into the girls’ alliance and now he’s got an idol to keep himself safe should he at any point feel uneasy.
3rd – Julia
OVERALL: 7th (-1)
NOAH RANK: 12th
COLIN RANK: 5th
IVAN RANK: 8th
JARROD RANK: 4th
NOAH: Julia wasn’t in this episode. She is in the alliance but she is quickly becoming the invisible player of the season. We will see when she finally goes to tribal council.
COLIN: I’d really like to have more to say, but she’s still an invisible player on the invisible tribe. She’s in with Anna and hasn’t lost immunity. That’s really all that matters right now.
IVAN: Solely above Michele due to having more screen time. At least a she’s with the numbers.
JARROD: Sitting pretty with the Beauty girls.
4th – Michele
OVERALL: 8th (-3)
NOAH RANK: 11th
COLIN RANK: 6th
IVAN RANK: 9th
JARROD RANK: 5th
NOAH: Like Julia, Michele is slowly becoming an invisible character. Points to her for being in a solid alliance but at this point she isn’t a major character.
COLIN: She’s solid in the “Anna Alliance” and on a tribe that hasn’t lost immunity yet. That’s all that matters.
IVAN: She’s my winners pick from pre season but 3 semi to totally invisible episodes is usually safe enough to assume they’re getting a purple edit and not in consideration to win. I hope she proves me wrong and has some good moments but right now being at the bottom of the female alliance makes the most sense.
JARROD: Sitting pretty with the Beauty girls.
5th – Caleb
OVERALL: 11th (-3)
NOAH RANK: 9th
COLIN RANK: 8th
IVAN RANK: 12th
JARROD RANK: 9th
NOAH: Caleb has been enlisted as the fourth member in the girl’s alliance. The only reason he is slightly higher than Julia and Michele is because he has become the second biggest character on Beauty behind Tai. On top of that he has his close bond with Tai and he is probably the strongest person on the tribe. If Beauty goes to tribal council again then he is probably safe and in a swap he could work his way in well.
COLIN: If he makes the right move and sides with Anna he’ll be ok, but for now it’s up in the air. He really needs to pick a side and make a positive move already. Winning challenges only gets you so far.
IVAN: He’s in the majority but he’s not in that great of a position. I think he can find himself an alliance in a swap or something but I’m not sure how long he has. Hopefully for him he can go through several individual stage votes like he did in BB16 despite being a physical threat.
JARROD: Caleb is playing a solid game at this point in time. Simply by being a nice guy he’s wound up in the female alliance on Beauty tribe and there’s no reason for them to vote him out anytime soon.
6th – Nick
OVERALL: =13th (-2)
NOAH RANK: 14th
COLIN RANK: 15th
IVAN RANK: 13th
JARROD RANK: 14th
NOAH: Nick has been fairly invisible throughout this entire season. The girls have enlisted Caleb into their alliance and Tai has his idol and has worked his way back into the gang. Nick has been identified as having a wonky social game and the main target to get out on the beauty tribe. He will probably be an insignificant player in the grand scheme of things.
COLIN: Dead man walking.
IVAN: It seems too good to be true for a potential strong villain like Nick to be on the outs so early. Could he fall at an early hurdle like Ace or will he manage to find his way deep into the game like Rodney? It’ll be interesting to see what kind of moves he would make but for now he’s got work to do.
JARROD: Nick is no longer Mr Invisible though that treatment was probably better than his edit in the past episode. He’s coming off as cold and untrustworthy to the rest of the tribe and should Beauty head to tribal council it looks like his number is up.
Our next Power Rankings will be up after the fourth episode! What do you think of our rankings? Agree? Disagree? Let us know your thoughts below!
